Hi,

Checking if you guys having same problem. If connected to xbox live, I cannot play any downloaded or installed games, it turn Black screen. And it freezes there, cannot go back to dashboard and the only way is turn off console. Anyhow, playing games from disc or offline are fine.

Things Ive done,
1. Uninstalled latest update from hdd then re install update on memory
2. Clear cache
3. Reset by pressing power button more than 10 sec
4. Unplug per cable
5. Tried play game from hdd or memory
6. Format hdd.. include take out hdd and re insert

bottom line as long as xbox live is connected I cannot play downloaded or installed games, even when not signed in any user.

Any advise?

is this an unmodded console ?

i have the same issue. all my game disc and arcade games when playing it bring me to black screen then freeze console. i also connect to live. never test play offline. i ever try unplug all cable and hdd. wait for few hours the put them back. it start working again. but the next day. it bring the same problem again... this is after apply the latest dash update and happen 2 days ago...

True. . It had been 2 days.. For disc game, make sure uninstall it from hdd..

Did u download any game right before this happen?

no. after uninstall disc games from HDD and play without install still same shit happen....

yes, i download alot of arcade games before. never have problem. now only have the walking dead season 2 and the wolf among us season 2 to test. still black screen...

Owh.. This thing happen rite after I finish download game with gold Charlie murder.. trying to guess what cause this..

I am on my Xbox360 Elite 120hdd (yes I know its old now lol), not having problem. I would suggest you try to redownload your profile? it seems like the problem only happens to being online?

few months back there is a similar issue which is cause by some ads on Xbox Live SG, system freeze the moment we connected to live. our work around is to get in the game without signing in to Live, only sign in after you are in game.

Owh.. Yes, I also had that issue on April, at the time they launch titanfall. It took about 4 days Microsoft to fix that.

This time a bit differ, it only happen when load game while xbox is online, even without signing in. Hopefully this would be fixed on Monday.

ok. i had contact to xbox.com support. here is what they want me to do:

Do the following steps:
Rick Ryan: 1. Clear the system cache three (3) times
Rick Ryan: 2. Turn off your console
Rick Ryan: 3. Wait for 3 minutes
Rick Ryan: 4. Turn on your console
Rick Ryan: 1. Clear the system cache three (3) times
Rick Ryan: 2. Delete your profile ONLY
Rick Ryan: 3. Turn off your console
Rick Ryan: 4. Wait for 3 minutes to rest the console
Rick Ryan: 5. Turn on your console
Rick Ryan: 6. Re-download your profile

after done this. it fix now. try it....

but i will still monitor my console 1st, affraid it will happen again after i turn off my console. will let you know again.....

sad.... i can play my games for an hour then i quit to dashboard wanting to install the game to HDD... after doing this, play game and now black screen is coming back again. i try doing the step but this time it fail....

you are on slim? or Xbox 360 E ?

i got this problem too. no problem at the dashboard but the screen went to completely empty black screen whenever i started a game/ avatar store etc
i had to clear the system cache once > performed the initial setup > play a game without the hdd > switched off xbox, attached back the hdd > and i was able to play as normal... but the black screen came back again
will try your method above later but lol looks at how many times we need to clear the system cache

doket's solution works temporarily.. once out to dashboard it happen again.. what i notice is in Game tab, if there are 2 loading circles on rightside screen, i cant play any games.. including disc games..

yes, i notice the latest dashboard update that cause it. before that, nothing happen. its so annoying, i have to keep delete my profile and redownload it for it to play...

just notice this yesterday that it actually happen to me, it seems like its the game suggestion/recommendation is bugged. if it is not able to do so it will remain in circle, maybe an infinite loop on that.

I tried again this morning it is able to recommend me games I played, no circle on that. I was able to get in game without doing any cache clearing.

Microsoft already responded that they will provide a fix ASAP.

This symptoms happened mostly on Xbox360 S

mine is the fat version and i just found out that i just need to delete and re download profile. no need to clear system cache.

@cahayamalamku ic.. does it recur after you exit to dashboard or restart?

not sure because I used to play 1 game per session... after that confirmed switch off

Well, I was getting black screened even while trying to launch any apps just last week including the xbox music and youtube apps. Also same problem while launching from disc. I was convinced it was my HDD that was spoiled and was going to buy a replacement - luckily I saw this thread and noticed that i'm not the only one experiencing this problem

hye.. yes.. i too found that loading games both dlc and disc, apps, avatar store & avatar edit are getting black screen..

unfortunately cannot change this topic title..

hopefully Microsoft will release the update asap.. take almost 5 to 10 minutes to delete and download profile etc and must do that everytime lol

well... I don't know what the hell they did but my xbox is working again.

I had previously moved all my save games to cloud storage and formatted my hard drive and redownloaded my profile. However, it didn't work then. Tonight, because I wanted to test if the games would work off-line it just decided to work again. Weird.

weird.. i just play xbox and its still there.. black screen..

I'm having this problem too. Temporary solution select manual sign in instead of auto sign in as sign in preference then load the game first. When the game screen is shown then sign in with your profile. This should work for the time being. Give it a try.

another way of doing it is simply make your console offline when loading a game

Not sure when did this started happening since I haven't played anything for the whole year (I only turn it on to download the monthly freebies ), and just when I wanna start to play some games, this happened!

I tried Street Fighter 4 Arcade and it works, but a few games after that seems to bring up a black screen. The only thing I could do that will not cause the console to hang is to shut it down via the dashboard.

I also thought this coincides with the annoying message that requests for your backup email which stopped appearing, and then the occurrence of this black screen.
That message will usually pop up almost every single time I sign in, but this time I signed straight in to Live without a hitch.

this is so annoying. when microsoft gonna fix this problem? now i cant play games on 360...

you can, just disconnect from internet when loading game and reconnect after game loaded

my solution was load game w/o profile.

once game load, only login.

yup.. turn-off auto signin.. then skip signin during bootup.. and then load a game.. this has been 100% success rate.. the game itself will asked to signin when selecting save game..

so far no update from xbox live official support.. huhuhuhu

OK will try this method later. seems deleting and redownload my profile wasn't solving this issue at the moment.

lucky me to found this thread..not only me in darkness..it was fine last weeks after hard rset my console..now happening again..will try suggestion to load game first prior login...hope for a fix soon by MSFT

btw, TS did u get any response from MSFT?

Me to have the similar problem on my phat xbox 360. Keep on and off my xbox and clear cache.

good news. as some might know already.... today i just try xbox 360 after few months. now can sign in live and play games with no problem anymore. guess the problem been fix...

owh ya.. i just notice.. the issue is solved.. i think coz there was alot of ppl had this problem last couple of weeks..
