The serving is roughly the same but milo is much cheaper version of mass gainer, provided with that amount, you need to also swallow a tank of water to prevent heaty effect.  thumbup.gif

How much is a tank? By finishing the standard extra large 6 litre water bottle at once, I think we will literally go to hospital. biggrin.gif

And what is heaty effect? tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Came across this article the other day:

Muscle Milk, Syntha 6, Isoflex, Cellucor, and Optimum Nutrition’s Proteins Tested for BCAA Content: ALL FAIL

If even well known brands like ON can miss by so much, what brands should consumers go for?

The person who re-shared this article on FB (a sports pro presumably with no conflict of interest), said he only uses this now:

New Zealand Whey - Pharmaceutical Grade Matrix

Any thoughts and recommendations?

somebody tried selling it to me

is it for kids?

Not worth due to the pricing (value for money).

Hi guys,

Been working out and taking whey protein for quite some time, mainly ON Gold standard or Muscletech nitro whey…
and I do quite substantial cardio like swimming, badminton and I’m also a runner..

Meanwhile, I have problem with high cholesterol , not too high actually, above borderline most of the time.
I only begin to notice this since my company require me to do medical checkup regularly..
Somehow this is very frustrating because my blood sugar and level is perfectly normal, BMI of 23, flat midsection, though only the top 2 packs visible lol..
And I been eating good since past 2 years! Very less fried and oily stuff, etc, fruits, vege, oats…totally no softdrinks, nasi lemak and roti canai..
Guess I can only blame it on genetics as both my parents have this problem and my dad is a heart patient…it’s easy to blame your parents for this ya lol..

To improve this further I hope to limit my dietary cholesterol as low as possible, preferable less than 300mg per day..
I’m thinking of having whey protein that has zero cholesterol, thinking of ON Platinum hydrowhey now…
And I know it’s friggin’ expensive! Wonder if this worth it…seriously trying to keep cholrestrol intake low while taking supplement is very frustrating..
Would appreciate any advice guys..thanks.

Are you eating enough vegetables and fruits everyday?

looks like the seal on top not there?

Probably opened and then selling for cheap. In this case have to just trust the seller, say e.g. a friend.

Efficacy 4/5

Gets the job done, 24g of protein in one 32g scoop

Isolates are generally okay, but could have been better if mixed with casein.

Taste 2.5/5

Bearable/neutral, does not taste bad at 1.5 scoop + 12 oz water. (chocolate)

Mixability 4/5

No issues with general mixability in a shaker cup, just don't expect it to be some superfine stuff

ON Whey is fine. downsides are price and taste. But quality protein nonetheless.

In your opinion what's cheaper/or same price but tastes better than this ON?

Taste is subjective. For example, I dislike sweet taste. So, I prefer dymatize cappucino rush. Price is okay, around RM150 for 5lbs.
*
Yeah I like good food, and can't bear the artificial flavoring taste of some of these products. By the way I thought I read some posts here that dymatize has stopped production?

QUOTE(janson_kaniaz @ Aug 16 2016, 07:57 PM)
There are only a few brands that I trust. Dymatize, Animal, ON, Grenade and few other brands not sold locally here.
*
Ah, which do you think tastes best?

ON is always meh. Dymatize is so so.

Animal is good.

You mean this? Which flavours do you like best?

Woah RM225 for 4 lbs versus RM210 for 5 lbs by ON.

Quite a hefty difference.

Protein does make body hot. The energy cost for digesting protein is highest compared to the  carb & fat. That's why u feel hot when eat lot protein. And this is why protein rich diets are better for fat loss since digesting it itself is more work.

hmm.gif Any explanation for Durian then?

I was taking Muscletech platinum whey. Wanna try other brands now

Seller: puppyseven

Seller's site rating looks okay. Their pricing for that particular product is roughly the same as Musclemania and Eji, both of which are well known.
