What the hell?! I started getting the exact same problem today aswell. My event managers gives me:
Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module netapi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0000a3c0.
At the exact time the error occured. I get a Mixer Device Not Found either, when I double click my Sound icon after this happens...could it be something affecting streamyx users...?
EDIT: can you guys find any trace of ezpinst.exe in your tasklist or computer? It seems to be related to a trojan or virus.

Did a bit more googling, this may help, I'm downloading the hotfix now. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;894391

Seems to work for me so far, rebooted after installing hotfix, no problems so far. My net stays on after that msg though, unlike some of you, only my sound mixer has problems.

Are any of you experiencing audio problems after clicking OK to that dialog aswell? After clicking OK, double click the volume icon in your taskbar and see if it gives an error message about no mixer devices.
I have a solution for that, strange that my net stays on though after the error.

QUOTE(allornothing @ Aug 13 2006, 08:41 PM) I do. I can't play mp3/sounds. My net stays on thoough. Ok, go to start -> run, type in services.msc, look for windows audio, change startup type to Automatic, and click Start button if the service is stopped. Go to the recovery tab, change all the options to Restart the Service (all three of them), the popup won't show again, and you have sound back , at least until you reboot.

That's strange though...I have Windows Firewall turned off, but I'm running Steganos Personal Firewall 2006...why doesn't it help, I mean, they're both firewalls right?

I'm using a router/modem combo, I still get errors, but it doesn't cut off my internet, so it happens to both types.

Yikes, bitcomet might be the link between all this, I just found out that I DO have bitcomet installed from some time ago, I will try this tomorrow and let you know how it goes, good work!
EDIT: Nope...reset back to 10 tcpip, and throughly removed bitcomet, on reboot, the first thing that appeared was the error.

It should be alright, unless it's masquerading as a virus or something, racoon.
