Don't forget about the voltage. A higher current value is fine, but not voltage. Most standard chargers output 5v, while the 3DS input is only 4.6v if I recall correctly.

On that note though, my 3rd party charger outputs 4.6v according to the box. But, the charger itself outputs 5v according to the sticker on it.
