Make sure you bought the Snapdragon version instead of Tegra, or else you end up only can use 2G sahaja.

Yes. You need the WDCMA of Xiaomi Mi3 (with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800). But if you buy in China, is running China MIUI ROM, so is not preload with PlayStore, Google blablabl etc.. Is usable, don't worry, but you might need someone to help you flash the Malaysia MIUI ROM so that you can have PlayStore, Google blablabla etc... Xiaomi MIUI Forum got guide, if you wish to DIY to flash yourself. Xiaomi support Root, so no worry for voiding warranty.*
