New Axia deliveries delayed axia_showroom.JPG The Axia is drawing strong interest from buyers. PETALING JAYA: Buyers of the recently launched Perodua Axia can expect a delay in the delivery of their vehicles due to overwhelming bookings. To date, the Axia has received 20,000 orders since it was made available for booking six weeks ago. “The delivery time of the vehicle will be slightly longer than previously anticipated. “This is due to the response shown by the public towards our latest offering,” said Perodua president and CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh. He said Peroduais doing everything possible to deliver orders within a reasonable period. He said Perodua is also discussing with its vendors on how best to meet the high demand. The Perodua Axia is produced at the plant run by Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd. The new plant began mass production of the Axia in early September. Aminar says Perodua Global Manufacturing can potentially produce 100,000 vehicles a year on a one-shift cycle at its highly automated plant. The Axia is the first energy efficient-vehicle model made by a Malaysian company in partnership with Daihatsu Motor Company of Japan. Perodua says the Axia offers mileage of up to 21.6 km/l, is spacious, packed with unique Malaysian features and has an overall low cost of ownership. Prices for the car range from RM24,600 to RM42,530 in Peninsular Malaysia. The Perodua Axia comes in four variants; Standard E, Standard G, Special Edition and Advance. It also comes with a five-year warranty — another first for Perodua. The Axia is available in eight colours: Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Ebony Black, Moonlight Blue, Cherry Blossom, Lemon Grass Green, Sunflower Yellow and Lava Red.
