IMO, iPad Air is better if you need to do typing due to the extra screen estate.

As for the LTE or Wi-Fi question, if you use it at home or places where Wi-Fi access are readily available, you can consider getting the Wi-Fi model. Otherwise, get the LTE. You can almost get internet access anywhere and without any hassle.

If you've an LTE-supported phone, opt for the Wi-Fi version. Saves you money and it allows the bandwidth utilization on both devices just by using the cellphone as the mobile hotspot.

Quite troublesome IMO, but maybe it's just me.

I don't like the hassle of pulling out my phone in order to use tethering. Plus, it drains the battery too.

I do find it tiresome, but it's fine if you use it for short periods.

It helps me to fully utilize the bandwidth quota I have. smile.gif

document typing in ipad ... i assume you mean google doc right? then you might need to get ipad air.

if your phone have 3G or LTE, you can hotspot it thru you phone and let your ipad received it as wifi.
