Is the file hardsubbed or soft subbed?

I'd use VLC or CCCP. Both should be able to read the softsubs, if there are any.

CCCP is awesome, however, I've had some problems when playing older dvd-rips.

I was watching this dual-audio rip of Body Transfer (hentai, you have been warned), and realized default audio was changed to english, and it didn't even give the option of changing the audio back to japanese (the way it showed, seemed like japanese audio track didn't exist), when I know its dual audio cause I listened to it in japanese in VLC. Its not the only one, and everything else works fine, but it just shows CCCP isn't perfect (though its bloody good).

And my CCCP is the latest when I downloaded it about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago, so its not a problem of outdated codecs.

where you select the audio? sometime you need to select it from directvobsub (the green arrow thingy)

Some people may argue this, specifically the ones I encountered in hardware sub-forum. Some of them mentioned computers should be operated 24/7 , and I lol'ed reading those penorzless comments. Probably they didn't learned it during varsity days something we called "product life cycle" or "wear & tear" ? Hey, even humans has it limits too . Esspecially when you are dealing with 'moving' parts eg: hdd , they are prone to failures.

They also didn't know about the unstability of the electricity that also can 'quicken' the 'aging' process. You know, when the frequencies on the hardwares are unstable due to the power. I have some experiences with this kind of matter. First, my previous CRT monitor blown. Amazing wasn't it? It's due to the fact that my new hostel last time had unstable electricity (or ripple voltages as you say because I am not an engineering student). Why? The hostel was made based-on standard university hostel yet todays students have their own computers and its out of their expectation.

Second, my PSU. It was blown too. Same reason and it happened at my own house. Simply, we need a Voltage Regulator but a real good one. Tho' I have one now, I am still worried because the one I bought is a cheap piece. Well, it will only affecting my AVR later on. But computer parts are pretty cheap nowadays.

Fine, although I don't know the shits of EE terms or facts but I know few things of computer organization. Simply not just assambling or dissassambling the parts but I do know some things about the logics that work behind a computer. But then, I am no expert about this stuff plus I don't really want to debate about this thing especially with an emo guy.

mplayer classic....was using VLC until it started to mess up my MAR subtitles timing very very badly...

Media Player Classic, anime dont have .3gp or any other weird format that MPC cant handle (VLan can settle all of em though)

Funny thing, a reinstall of CCCP cleared everything up. It all opens fine in MPC.

Windows Media PLayer 6.4. Anything else I use MPC. Never failed me. Dun really MPC personally. Windows media 6.4 is surprisingly nice, fast and stable.
