I edited your pic again and draw arrows to indicate the location of the wear indicator metal clip. I don't see it on this side of the pad so must be on the other side.

The wear indicator clip will move together with your brake pad. So, once your brake pad getting thinner, the clip will move inwards... once touching the brake rotor, will make sound lor
