Hi all ,

Wedding season now , i try to look for 1 good wedding and reasonable price of photographer and cinematographer for my sister wedding .
Many freelancer out there able to offer very low price as RM800.00 for whole day shooting come with same day edit ..

The price let me feel scare , because if the job not good , my sister will kill me .

I found some so called production , offer like RM1600 to RM2000 , are they good ? see their profile not bad ..

anyone can intro some or welcome freelancer or any small production to share here your link or something ..

Thanks~

1- Check the style that you like
2- Check their profile on the AD shooting
3- discuss on what item that they give it to you

RM1200-RM1500 +-
will be the range normally

RM800 is really too low for a good photographer. Do you know how expensive are the good cameras and lenses? So if someone is charging that low, it means that they are still newbies and not so high tech lenses. A good one will range from RM1,800 - RM2,200.00. Above that, well they are good but I feel it's way to expensive.

average pricing for good ones are 1500-2000 and above. like what others mentioned just have a look at their portfolios for actual day photos and if you see what you like then go for it.

I don't think is wise to just judge by looking at their portfolio through online and decide. The best is to visit them personally. Better if they have a proper organization or office. Just in case things gone wrong, you still can find the office and contact other staff. And also proper registered company or organization are protected by the law.

Also cannot judge by looking at their equipment as well. Does not mean that they use the best equipment they can produce meaningful photos.

There are such things as artistic photos and meaningful photos. Artistic photos are sometimes meaning less. They only look good as and art but there is no meaning to it. Meaningful photos are like family portraits and moments. A lot of photographers out there are too busy concentrating on artistic shots to make their portfolio look good and missed the important moments which very often are boring to others but very meaningful to you. Especially if there is only one photographer, is definitely a down side.

- Try searching for those that are working as a team. Try to avoid 1 man show. In case one of them had issues with his camera or suddenly have an emergency, like stomach ache or suddenly got sick or fainted. Sometimes it does happen.
- Like above, try to look for those licensed and registered ones. With proper organization set up. To prevent fraud.
- Get to know them personally first. Talk to them. Know their character. Know their background. Is important. You wouldn't want a stranger being so close to you for almost the whole day and have access to your house. Always preferred those who listens and agrees with your decision and ways rather than those who are so ego that they only do their own ways and achieve their own goals. Communication are very important. To be able to instruct and guide the photographer on what you really want.
- Price wise, there is really no guideline. Just need to set up a budget and choose the one that you feel more comfortable with. Don't purely judge by the portfolio. As we all know, is all filtered and massively edited.

Cheers and just my 2 cents worth............ icon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry, i disagree with you. There is always a reason why 50mm 1.2 lens cost more than 5k compare to a 50mm 1.8 which is only RM200. Now matter how good is your skill but you do not have the essential equipment, quality wise is really different.

i went through several vendors and this are my criteria (provided price fits your budget)

1) Portfolio / webpage - shows how much dedicated they are to showcase their stuff and as well as it will show how legit they are
2) Their ideas/vision of shooting you and your spouse must match with your expectations i.e. some people want the videog to shoot more of their friends/family, some wants like story trailer kind etc
3) Their personality - It's very important for me to be able to work with someone that I like as a person. No point give me world class skills but also world class b**** attitude.

i believe if you have these 3 covered, the shoot should go fine.

i would also suggest looking at their finished photobooks. one of my friends chose an up n cming phtogapher duo.the pics posted on the website were amazing. like really blown way by the qualityof the shoot.

then the photobook arrive. It was heavily edited. that the turqoise colour of the wedding theme turned out green. the bride looked heavily made up with make up. And then the close ups looked amateur.

So that's my advice. Dont only look at pics on the website. See their photobook product too.
And insist on the CD so at least u can reprint the photobook later using groupon voucher or something later.

I have heard of a lot of wedding photographer nightmares (i.e : don't turn up on day, cancel last minute, don't deliver photographs, etc...) I have a list of few reliable photographers, I short listed from my wedding & I know them personally :
1. www.emotioninpictures.com (Andy Lim) -> I used him for our prewedding & wedding day. Very easy to work with and very good photos.
2. www.victor-hew.com
3. www.creativeclicks.com.my
I'm not sure of their pricing tho, you may need to check with them individually, I guess they charge depending on your requirements. good luck!
