I will be getting a PC with these specs :

AMD X2 AM2 3800+
Biostar Tforce550
Corsair VS DDR667 1-2GB RAM
XFX 7900GT / Sapphire X1900XT
Seagate Barracuda 80GB SATA2
WD 160GB PATA
DVD-RW

I will be using an i-Cute 500W PSU which comes with the casing. I've read in a lot of places here i-Cute is not really recommended, although I've also read that some guys actually ran their PC 24/7 for months without problem while using an i-Cute PSU.

So can my PSU handle the specs? Im comfortable if I'm using the 7900GT but the X1900XT really eats power. Don't want to lose hardware due to instability with the PSU. Oh yes, I will be doing some oc'ing with the CPU/RAM but not the GC. A non-oc friend of mine may get an identical system like mine, so is the PSU OK for him, if not for me?

As for myself, if not i-Cute then what? Any PSU you guys recommend?

Wow sniper69, you sound like you had a bad experience. Mind sharing it? Cos I know 1 shop sold a lot of i-Cute PSU over a year none or very few came back for warranty.

I went to http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp and obtained a 456W recommended PSU rating. I assume that this number is the calculated with all hardware maxed out, which should be rare. I put CPU TDP and PSU utilisation at 100%, surge compensation 15% and capacitor aging at 20%.

How much does an Enermax 485W Noisetaker cost? Is this PSU alright for my specs? Or should I just go for a Liberty 500W? Any special promotion for PSU during PC Fair?

Oh? Is that FMA or FMA II series? Speaking of lower price, how much does it cost? Noise levels is something I'd consider which was why I choose Liberty but then again, guess I have to settle for a cheaper albeit noisier PSU. As long as I can use it Im fine rclxms.gif

Cos Im really pushing my budget to get a X1900XT (if the price drops by early nxt mth). Can anyone tell me, is RM1300 for X1900XT possible at all 2-3 weeks from now? Else I just buy a 7900GT or 1900GT and spend the spare budget on a good PSU biggrin.gif
