QUOTE(miloy2k @ Jun 12 2014, 11:04 AM) actually there is. open chrome in a phone with 2gb or more ram. load 10 different heavy pages (eg lelong desktop website). you can quickly change the between the first 7 tab instantly, no reloading since all still in ram. but when you move to the 8th or 9th tab, the page will appear black and white for awhile, and the progress bar will move, need to wait for it to reload. on a 1gb phone like s3 load 10 different heavy pages after switching to the first 3 or 4 tabs, when move to the next one, it will appear black, and will need wait for it to reload. total amount of pages that can be stored in ram is less. doesnt matter how optimized your rom is. even on the ipad iOS, can cache 2 or 3 pages only with 1GB ram. everytime after open few tabs, go back to the first one, it is black and white and need wait it reload. |

QUOTE(sitescope @ Jun 12 2014, 12:24 PM) no need software, android 4.4 have this built in. just use xposed framework gravity box or wanam xposed to activate it. the screenshot is from a note 3. if you're looking for screen record app, search in play store, i'm sure they have many. but root required though. |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Jun 17 2014, 06:51 AM) old, age wise yes, but i kept it running optimally. Still looks 9/10 and I don't use casings, only screen protector. Well, i tend to take very good care of my gadgets. Anyway, performance wise, it is still smooth, running 4.3 stock and I don't simply install those rubbish apps that might have otherwise choked the phone's performance, even uninstalled/freezed those apps that were pre-installed. Maybe that's why it still runs well for me. So, nope, not slow nor laggy that kinda thing. I own s3 before. Overall the mi3 is a better smartphone. So yeah, performance wise i'm still happy with the s3, and isn't the driving factor for me to change to a new phone. Because maybe those newer phones might run apps at like few miliseconds faster only? I'm talking about it practically. Like say when it's really choky and sluggish then yes, but that isn't a problem with my current S3. Would like more than it being able to perform miliseconds faster than the S3 as a reason to change(and it is understandable since it's almost a 2 year old phone?) Anyway, i read that the Mi3 only has 16gb internal storage? So that's +-12gb or so usable storage? Do they sell the 64gb variant? Because that amount of storage would really stop me from changing to the Mi3 as I have lots of photos/videos and over 1k+ songs. So it's definitely something to take into consideration.. The battery life better than s3, unless u are using the official 3000mah battery from Samsung. I don't find the s3 screen to be pixelated while I was using. However after u are used to 1080p screen and look back at the 720p pentile, text starts to look really jaggy. There will be speed improvement. Animations much smoother. But don't really expect everything to be 2 or 3x faster. Games like temple run or dead trigger feels the same. Biggest and most noticeable difference is browsing using Chrome. As for memory mi3 don't support memory card. That's a bummer if u like to keep 30+ GB of songs with u at all times. Official Malaysia one don't sell 64gb variant. Lastly, you don't have to waste time thinking wana get this phone or not. Later 12:01pm when it sold out check whether u manage to order one. Then only decide u wana pay or not. Dapat dulu baru pikir mau tak mau. |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Jun 17 2014, 08:26 AM) You must have the English proficiency of a 12 year old then. I did say Samsung's pretty good(which is why i am still happy with it), but i also did not say that Samsung is the best. If I use an S3 but have an iPad and uses a Mac, what does that make me then? Or do you just blindly label everyone who gives a positive opinion about Samsung as "Sammy fans"? He just want u to not buy mi3. So less one competitor maybe.Way to go to help a forumer. |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ Jun 17 2014, 08:42 AM) FINALLY, a decent answer, which at least covers what the asker's concerns were. and I thank you for that. Mi3 is a really good phone at a unbelievably cheap price. It has very high specs, camera screen and battery. The only compromise memory. Miui is subjective. First time android users won't know the difference. But usual sense sony or touch wiz user will find it very different. Miui despite being lightweight, it very different from stock android. Whatever it is. If u buy this you'll be stuck with it and eventually get used to it.To the other guy who thinks that using an S3 = cheapo. You mention you can afford more expensive gadgets. If so, ignore the mi3. try the note 3 instead. Impressive device in many ways. You will not be disappointed coming from s3. The difference between old gen flagship and new gen always seems subtle before you upgrade. But after u upgrade, those difference become more apparent. Again, it is really subjective. You won't get a definite answer in forum. Look around for friend that have mi3, play with it. |
