Been having extremely slow download speeds lately. Am I the only one experiencing this? FYI the area is Mont Kiara.
*
Same here. Location JB

QUOTE(vankodoq @ Mar 2 2015, 08:25 PM)
Strange thing is happening with my TIME 100Mbps subscription. Using speedtest.net, it shows that my speed is as usual (around 40-ish Mbps), but when I download from a filehosting website, I can't go beyond 200 kBps. Last month, I still get around 0.8-1.2 MBps. Any idea why? hmm.gif
*
Before CNY, I can max out the bandwidth easily anytime
But now, download speed over FTP on my own server is about 100-250kBps doh.gif
I suspect perhaps TIME is having some connection issues with Europe??

I wonder what's the cause behind this slowdown!!!
On my Maxis Fibre at home, I managed to max out the bandwidth downloading from the same server rolleyes.gif

Hope this can be fixed ASAP

I think maybe France and Germany badly affected
From speedtest OVH France & Leaseweb Germany have very bad result

If possible, please try download one of the test files from here - http://proof.ovh.net/files/
Please share the results. Thanks

What? Now that's funny. Why did TIME actually give me a router that's not capable of supporting MY choice of plan? Honestly, now I feel like I was duped all this time. shocking.gif
*
Actually the router provided is full of problems. Just google and u will find many complaints
For my company, the router is nothing but trouble.. It will automatically disconnect from internet for about 1/2 minutes randomly (but router remain on, just no internet). It happened everyday for us....

Finally I changed the router to a spare TP Link and never face disconnect problem again

Hi bro,
I have call customer services justnow. He already try reset the connection from hos side but doesn't solve the problem. He give me a log number for my case. So now I just wait ? Anyway to keep track on my case?
*
I'm also having exactly the same problem as u, except the throttled speed is to my own server...

I suspect this is done on the RNC side which identified high bandwidth utilisation IP and throttled the connection speed, so regardless how many times restart router or changing to whatever IP the speed is still slow

Good job TIME cry.gif

Hi Bro,

I don't think that's the way things work out with Time..Time does not throttle the speed.

Have you actually tried out the localized CDN servers ? Or alternative servers at different locations ?

Thanks.
*
As I already pointed out, speedtest to KL/Singapore is normal
But just only when downloading, the speed is very slow, never more than 200kBps
After restart router many times changing to various IP range, speed is still slow

So the logical conclusion is TIME throttled the speed doh.gif

I noticed today there are improvements in download speed. Although still cannot max out my Time fibre bandwidth, it is now steadily 500kbps-600kbps which is much better than the previous situation

Hopefully things will get even better soon
Let's keep out fingers crossed

Hi Bro,

Try test it out with the followings :

1) Downloading files with localized cdn servers such as from MS server.
2) Try it out with Premium account (if you have it) of File Hosting sites that you are experiencing slowness.

Thanks.

Cheers smile.gif

Bro maybe u didn't get it. I already say from few posts back I download from my OWN dedicated server. No other user on those servers. 1 of them is a 1Gbit server. Download speed is SLOWWWW. Until now it is not more than 200kBps

So finally I got pissed and called TIME. The answer is simple. As I've suspected, it's a peering issue. Undersea cable SMW4 is having some fault. Repair is already underway, expected to be finished by next Monday 16/3/15. In the meantime, TIME is re-routing traffic from Europe to US, which have massive data lost and so result in slow speed

Let's hope this will be fixed ASAP.. wink.gif

Bro,

Time does not use this SMW4 sub cable.

Anyway, hope your problem will be resoled asap.
Thanks.

Hmmm since u are telling the opposite of TIME customer service, perhaps can reveal what's the cause of this slowdown please

Before TIME solves this, it would be better to stay away from TIME. What's the point of having 100mbps or unmetered 30mbps when u can only download at not more than 200kbps no matter what package u on doh.gif

Problem with slow download seems to be fixed. I'm currently happily maxing out the bandwidth of TIME fibre

Hope it stays this way smile.gif

An update on my findings (Not fully resolve yet):

Decided to switch to another router to replace the existing Cisco E1000 -> Mi router. At least, the download speed is closer to at what is should be.

Again, the remaining item is the boost section. The speed is no change even after the boost activated (confirmed via speedtest from both speedtest.net & time.come.my)

I have question here:

Shall i be expecting any % from the Boost usage (as pointed by the arrow below)? As you can see, i still left 14hours more but the usage is always 0% usage. I did a check yesterday by logging into the selfcare page during the boost...still observing 0%. I just hope that the boost is activated at my side instead of accidentally to other user.

I think something wrong with the Boost usage slider. For my account, it always show 0%

Hi sordanny, Do you mind to share your issue background and how you solve it? biggrin.gif thanks ya
Same here..lets see what others observation..

According to TIME CS, the slow speed is caused by faulty SMW4 undersea cable. Although I managed to max out my office bandwidth this morning, currently as of now download speed is less than 200kBps again....

Can I ask, why download speed to European/Russian servers is so slow? I am new in Time fibre.
*
Bro which location in Europe are u experiencing slow speed actually?
I download a lot from my servers in France & Germany
From my observation, I get max 20Mbps downloading from either France or Germany after boost.. Decent speed but far from the 30Mbps TIME is advertising.... wink.gif

I'm not sure whether other users have been able to max out the advertised bandwidth after boost. Can u? unsure.gif

And to add on, after boost I'm not able to max out the advertised 30Mbps bandwidth even with speedtest or downloading from local Malaysian/Singapore servers

To show some examples:
BEFORE BOOST

AFTER BOOST
user posted imageuser posted imageuser posted image

The speedtest server I useds are:
KL - Yes 4G
Singapore - Softlayer
Germany - Frankfurt Leaseweb

And just realised I'm able to get slightly better speedtest results from KL - Celcom Axiata
But still it's far from the advertised 30Mbps bandwidth after boost..........

Most of the East Europe servers speed is 10 times slower than it is expected

What sort of download speed are u getting from that region?
I would imagine if downloading from a dedi u should be able to max out the bandwidth?
