I somehow feel that TIME Fibre is getting slower by day... I am on a 10mb plan with Astro and when I do speedtest, Ping is 35ms, DL is 2.35mb while UL is 5mb. Bear in mind that this is when I boost it to 20mb. Apa dah jadi ni....

Guys, I stumbled upon this thread when trying to find out how Time Fibre Home Broadband performs in the real world as opposed to on-paper specs listed on their website.

Question: Is Time Fibre Home Broadband available at 3 Residen Condominium, Desa Melawati? I tried searching for it via the availability search website (http://time.com.my/help/availabilitysearch.asp) but couldn't find my condo listed there. Just wanted to confirm whether this is true with you guys just in case the website is not up-to-date.

Furthermore, has anyone tried streaming Netflix 4K stream (example shows: The Blacklist, House of Cards) with Time Fibre? I wanna see whether it is able to stream at full quality or not. Netflix's official requirement for 4K streams is at least 17 Mbps Internet connection if I'm not mistaken.

All these while, I've been streaming Netflix at 1080p Super HD and Hulu Plus at 720p HD at full quality with no issues at all, using my Maxis Fiber connection at 10 Mbps. But it would be even better if I could have multiple simultaneous high quality streams, so that my children can stream via iPad while I can watch via Apple TV, while at the same time downloading on my computer, with no drop in video quality.

Anybody tried the above using Time Fibre?

If you are already enjoying good performance from Maxis Fibre, why wanna change? I have no complain on Time Fibre until recently where the line speed starts to drop. Mine is on astro IPTV package by the way and I dont know whether it affect the whole performance or not.

Any one know which brand of wifi router can be use for Time Fibre? The wifi router come with Time only allow Class C neywork, while I need one with class B network for my office. And that Time wifi router really bad... always hang by itself.

I am enjoying good performance, but I'm thinking of the future when a lot of Netflix streams will be on 4K. For now I don't even have a 4K TV, but when I do in the future, I would want to upgrade my broadband speed to at least 20 Mbps and above, which on paper Time Fiber is the most economical way to go. Time Fibre's prices when compared to Maxis Fiber is even lower, and Time Fibre doesn't implement quota at all (at least that's what I read when comparing the T&C between Time & Maxis Fiber; Maxis is like Unifi where they specifically state in the T&C they have a quota system and reserve the right to implement it in the future, but for now they do not yet impose it).

To me, at least on paper, Time Fiber is the way to go. But as jjj2 mentioned, it's not yet available in my condo, so maybe in the future hopefully.

really interested in time fibre after did some reading...unfortunately i've registered with unifi and the installation should be done this coming saturday...thinking of to cancel it and proceed with time fibre...any of u guys here have any experience doing that?

Does Time Fibre work with Apple Airport Extreme? I have one at home now, but I use it in "Bridge mode" (did I get the term right?), i.e. Just using it as a WiFi access point while my actual router is the one supplied by Maxis. Maxis doesn't allow using other routers, but there are unofficial ways to bypass that blockage. Still, I'm not techy enough to do it myself so I don't bother.

What about Time Fibre? They allow using Apple Airport Extreme?

Actually 4k streaming is tipu wan...even full HD streaMing also tipu...Netflix is good..but nowhere near the FullHD of typical bluray disc which needs a bit rates of 30Mbps or more...
Netflix is currently only around 5Mbps I think..for their 'SuperHD'.
The internet dont have so much bandwidth yet for true FullHD streaming yet....much less 4K. Abou 30pct of bandwidth in USA internet already sucked up by Netflix currently...and that's not even true FullHD yet!

That said, the quality of Netflix video is pretty good...just dont buy into the 4K hype too much....having the resolution without the actual content is useless. We can have 1080p rips at about 2GB file size...we all know how the quality is...everything downsampled and all details lost. Yeah..it is 1080p....but no point.

I don't know what legal streaming sources you can go for to watch TVB dramas, but for sports, you do have an alternative to Astro. I watch my Champions League through Watch ESPN app (on Apple TV or iPad), and my Premier League via NBC Sports Live Extra app on my MacBook or iPad.

So I'm pretty much covered from all angles. All in all the cost is cheaper too.
