QUOTE(treblecase @ Jan 16 2015, 07:58 PM) I haven't update my iOS to 8.1.2 coz I don't think it does anything. I may be wrong. Comments? Depends on what iPhone you're using. The only official change listed by Apple is the issue with your purchased ringtones disappearing on 8.1.1. Other changes are device specific. See here; http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/12/15/ios-8-1-2-review/

Updated a couple of days ago when I read about the release on Ars Technica. Did the OTA method since I hate iTunes and won't use it unless absolutely necessary.
So far, nothing bad. Performance is pretty much the same on my 6 (4.7"). They didn't mention it in the release notes, but that camera bug where I sometimes didn't hear the shutter sound effect seems to be resolved.
Other than that, no change. The stock weather app still exhibits that Samsung-esque lag whenever I switch countries from the list view >_>
My battery life has been good since I got the phone (touch wood) but I'll probably drain it to 0% tonight and do a full recharge and reset to recalibrate the battery meter.

Strange how so many of you are having problems. I see no difference between 8.1.2 and 8.1.3 on my setup (iPhone 6) with regards to battery life or stability. The stuff that was bad is still bad, like the jankiness in the stock weather app or the sudden pause when scrolling in some settings, and the stuff that was good is still good, like my battery life still gives me around 8.5 hours of screen-on time if I'm not doing heavy stuff with photo or video apps.

Updated to 8.2 this morning via OTA on my iPhone 6
Early obsevations; 1. Apple Watch app icon is the ugliest icon in the history of ugly icons 2. Stock weather app still has that Samsung-esque jank whenever I switch to multi-view and back. 3. After updating and reboot, the "Today Summary" widget vanished. Had to do a soft-reboot to get it back. 4. I lost a couple of messages from my message list. No idea why. Not a big deal though. 5. The order of my Sharing and Action extensions got reset after the update. Had to rearrange them. Again, no big deal. This has happened before anyway. 6. New option in "Settings>Privacy>Motion & Fitness" that allows me to turn off tracking of steps, distance, flights climbed is nice, since I never used the Health app. I often leave my phone in the office or room and walk about a lot, and I never take my phone when cycling, so the tracked data has never been accurate for me anyway. 7. I used to have this problem where I couldn't hear any sound until the receiving party answered whenever I made phone call via my car's bluetooth. That issue seems fixed now and I can actually hear the ringing tone. 8. Did I mention the Watch icon was fugly?!

QUOTE(v1n0d @ Mar 11 2015, 11:15 AM) Is anyone else having problems with their reminders not displaying in the notification center? It's basically the "Today Summary" and "Tomorrow Summary" widgets not appearing after the update, like I mentioned in my last post. in my case, rebooting fixed it.

QUOTE(Jasonist @ Mar 11 2015, 09:22 PM) anyone experiences "could not connect to Game Center server" after updating to ios 8.2??? I can't login now and play games by using my Game Center account... Most probably this; http://thenextweb.com/apple/2015/03/11/the...onnect-is-down/Seems to affect different people differently. I have a US account and can log in, but I can't purchase/download apps. My girlfriend has a Singapore account and she can't even log in to iTunes or the App Store. This post has been edited by G-17: Mar 11 2015, 10:01 PM

QUOTE(v1n0d @ Mar 12 2015, 10:47 AM) Rebooting doesn't work for me. I've been experiencing this issue even before the update. I was kinda hoping it would've been fixed. Is this the stock iOS Reminders app? Maybe try disabling and re-enabling them in Settings > Notifications or a related setting Sorry I can't help since I've always used Fantastical for my event/reminder notifications since iOS7. QUOTE(JY. @ Mar 12 2015, 05:51 PM) anyone experienced excessive battery drain on 8.2? I'm actually experiencing improved battery life on my 6 (4.7"). Then again, I don't use WhatsApp or other instant messaging apps, so my use-case might not be representative of the majority here, but I do use a lot of automation stuff (Workflow, Launch Center Pro, IFTTT, Pushbullet) and tons of email. It's been a slow day today though (because I'm off work) , so posting a screenshot would be pointless, but just for reference, I've currently got 88% battery remaining with Usage - 2 hours 3 minutes Standby - 13 hours 39 minutes. QUOTE(THTgadgets.com @ Mar 13 2015, 12:44 PM) You must be one of the lucky ones, because some others have seen problems with battery life, Game Center not being able to connect, etc! Game Center issue was to do with Apple cloud services (iTunes, iCloud, etc) being down, not the OS update.... I think. I haven't had any issues with 8.2. I never experienced the delay during phonecalls that people are posting about either, except when making FaceTime calls on a slow cellular/data network. I think part of the increased battery drain (aside from WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber, etc being battery hogs.... but that's the app developers' fault, imho) might be the more aggressive motion tracking, possibly to tie in with Apple Watch features. If you don't use any of the trackers in Apple's Health app, you can try going to Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness and turning Fitness Tracking off. Not sure if it really is the issue though. Even iOS 8.1.x tracked your steps, flights and distance to some extent, you just didn't have the option to turn it off until 8.2. This post has been edited by G-17: Mar 13 2015, 07:42 PM

QUOTE(C63 AMG @ Mar 17 2015, 10:43 AM) Or get an android. iPhones were never known for good battery lives. Ok bye. You trying to be a comedian or what? Android has a lot of strengths, but battery life isn't one of them. The number of times I've had some application go lintang-pukang in the background and suck the battery dry (even after swiping it away in the multitasker) was just insane.

QUOTE(jin_akira @ Mar 17 2015, 04:23 PM) then can just easily get rid of that app. quite unlikely it's one of the stock apps that is causing the trouble. You've never used Google Currents/Newstand I imagine. I stand by what I said. I don't consider micro-management like going into settings and killing processes to be acceptable. Mind you, I'm perfectly okay with digging deep into the system. I run ArchLinux and OpenBSD on my desktop. Thing is, with Linux, I only have to do it once when configuring the system, because the OS actually listens to me, unlike Android which I have to micromanage on a daily basis just to get by. Only exceptions I'm willing to make are Sony flagships. No experience with the Z3 Compact, but the full sized Z2 and Z3 I know are very good with battery life, provided I take the time time to micro-manage stuff. Never used the China brands before, so maybe you're right there.

.... and the f*ckin stock weather app still janks like it's high on Samsung Touchwiz >_>
Other than that, yeah, there seems to be a slight performance boost in my 6. One thing I like is the way it zooms folders. Previously, when you zoomed into a folder, you'd notice the corners of the folder "pop" into shape. Now it doesn't happen, though I'm not sure if they fixed the rendering to remove that effect, or if it just happens so fast that I can't notice it. Not a big thing, but the popping edges were kind of a design fail imho, so its nice to see them gone now.

QUOTE(wuszhtag @ Apr 9 2015, 09:21 PM) 8.3 problem so far that i have found out - touch ID not being asked in AppStore. Try this; http://www.imore.com/touch-id-not-working-...os-83-heres-fixAlso, for those of you that lost the "Today Summary" (the one that gives weather, alarm, calender events, etc) widget - go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and switch Weather from Always to Never, and then back to Always again. Then launch the Compass app and calibrate it. Then launch the stock iOS weather app (make sure both Wifi and Cellular are on). After it displays the weather for your location properly, exit the app, but don't flick it away from the task-switcher pane. Then, pull down the Notification drawer. If all goes well, your Today Summary should be back with the weather info. Yeah, I know it all seems like some weird bomoh-shaman method, but it worked for me. Edit: Apple services seem to be having issues again. For me (US iTunes/AppleID account), I sometimes cant load the App Store main page, although search still works fine. Same for Music, Movies and Books. It seems everytime Apple releases some iOS update, we'll get erratic behaviour from Apple online stores and possibly iCloud as well. Grrr.... QUOTE(gjohn @ Apr 10 2015, 02:36 PM) lots of review mentioned about bugs affecting touch ID touch idtouc id probIf you're experiencing it, see my previous pose (#1402) for a link to fix the issue. QUOTE(cappuccino vs latte @ Apr 10 2015, 04:50 PM) That is the commendable part of iOS compared to other ecosystem. A long lasting relationship... Better than most other mobile ecosystems, but I wouldn't call 3 years commendable. I have Debian running on a 13yr old Pentium, still able to browse most modern websites, gets security updates and can even play 720p video (1080p makes it drop a few frames and spins up the fan though). That's what I would call commendable.

QUOTE(matkim @ Apr 11 2015, 11:24 PM) Mine ip6 show 5gb ip5 show 1gb Noticed the same thing after upgrading my mum's iPhone 5 (my old phone) earlier today. Strangely, only Settings > General > Usage shows iCloud Total Storage at 1.0 GB. If I tap on Manage Storage the little bar at the bottom still says "4.6 GB available of 5.0 GB on iCloud". QUOTE(idoblu @ Apr 11 2015, 08:44 AM) It's not subject to carrier or phone model. It's subject to iOS version. It's not subject to phone model, but there are differences in what's displayed depending on your carrier. For example, some carriers will display 4G instead of LTE, and some carriers will even give you both (like AT&T in the U.S., because their 4G is actually only 3.5G). On my Singapore telco, I don't even get the 2G option. This post has been edited by G-17: Apr 12 2015, 10:54 PM

QUOTE(adriankhoo153 @ Apr 12 2015, 10:29 PM) A bit lag on my iPhone 3GS. Love the new emoji I heard Siri sounds extra sexy on the 3GS as well. =P QUOTE(KaiHD @ Apr 12 2015, 09:24 PM) because i think all singaporean telcos have island-wide LTE. only <10% of the time fall back to 3G. afaik they shut down their 2g network already thats why no 2g option. i may be wrong though. 10% is a bit optimistic, but yeah, decent 4G/LTE coverage overall. The only time I see the thing switch back to 3G is near the Woodlands customs on the way back to Johor, lol. I think there still are 2G networks active - possibly for old phones and commercial/industrial communications equipment, but none of those devices (I assume) handle cellular internet data.

QUOTE(Ibrahim@@ @ Apr 13 2015, 10:31 PM) hello good evening to all guys , just want to ask .. after updated the 8.3 .. any drop in the baterry percentage .. just want to make sure is still the same as 8.2 or better ... tq . Mine's about the same. Can go to sleep with 100% and wake up 8hrs later with 99% - 100% (iPhone 6) if I don't get many messages, email notifications or big app updates/downloads in the background. Note that some of your apps might need to be updated or they might keep crashing and constantly refresh themselves in the background (leading to increased battery drain). Also, some big iOS updates that involve a lot of fixes/changes (like this 8.3), usually require the operating system to take some cycles in order to reload/re-cache/re-whatever all app settings and location related stuff, which also takes a slight toll on battery life. You can't really tell if there's a difference until you've done about 3 - 4 charge cycles. This post has been edited by G-17: Apr 14 2015, 03:21 AM

QUOTE(jrlogger @ Apr 16 2015, 10:25 AM) Infinity Blade 3 also gives me freezes and stutters, where previously it was smooth. Guess it's an iOS issue. Actually, I noticed this with a few of my photo editing apps, and also Flipboard. The menu switching or page-flipping animations had a bit of stutter (almost felt like I installed Touchwiz instead of iOS 8.3 by mistake) the first few times I launched them, but after a couple of days, it's all completely smooth now. Almost like the new iOS version needed time to "re-learn" what needs to be drawn on-screen for what app. Maybe it's the same for your games?
