I think it is more like the demand is wayy higher than they can produce.

they are in the business of earning profit, who dont want to sell more? It is just that their factory is sooo tiny that they  couldnt output enough phones to sell, they dont want to outsource to 3rd party either to ruin their QC.

I dont think they are keeping huge bunch of stock in inventory waiting to be release bit by bit.

Well , the angrier the customers get the better for their advertising, imagine the free advertising they get when customers complain to the local newspapers and the media reported on them. They might have pissed the people who waited but they will gain notoriety and people will go look them up.

I heard that it easily overheat. smooth and fast? but sure no laggy? i was interested on this phone but i scare to buy a china product due to its quality. so need to do some research on it before buying it.
