QUOTE(Frozen_Sun @ May 31 2014, 02:43 PM) The other dudes have mentioned their protection, but I would like to highlight one thing about the AV8, it will be modular bro. Modular. This section is damaged? cabut and pasang a new one, like lego. Parts commonality and modularity will make future upgrade and repairs cheap. Researching and developing those lego parts definitely ain't cheap, especially when the base vehicle (FNSS PARS) is not originally made for modularity. |

Barnes Deploys Crews to Malaysia for Training Exercises
WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Barnes Air National Guard base has begun deploying crews to Malaysia for a three week multinational exercise called COPE TAUFAN. Senior Master Sgt. Robert Sabonis made the announcement Monday explaining that a number of F-15C/D aircraft along with over 100 members of the 104th Fighter Wing have been deploying to Malaysia since Saturday. The exercise operations will join Massachusetts Air National Guard members with active duty F-22 Raptor aircraft and multinational Mig-29 and Su-27 aircraft. “The 104th Fighter Wing’s involvement in this exercise speaks volumes to the relevance of this unit in the global theater,” said Col James J. Keefe, Wing Commander. “We were asked to participate in this exercise because of our proficiency with Advance Fighter Integration”. During this exercise, American fighter aircraft will fly dissimilar aircraft training with Royal Malaysian Air Force MiG-29 and SU-27 aircraft. “These exercises both build relationships with one of our strategic partners but also aids in developing tactics for F-15 and F-22 integration in the Pacific Theater of Operations,” adds Keefe. This is the furthest west the 104th has traveled for a training exercise. Back in March, National Guard members from Barnes participated in training at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. The goal is to demonstrate the ability to cover contingencies to the East as well as to the West. http://www.wggb.com/2014/06/02/barnes-depl...ning-exercises/ fer real brah? |

QUOTE(yinchet @ Jul 3 2014, 07:20 PM) Hunt for Deputy Customs D-G's murderer ends with main suspect's arrest PETALING JAYA: The main suspect behind the murder of Deputy Customs Director-General Datuk Shaharuddin Ibrahim has been arrested. After more than a year of being at large, the 30-year-old man was detained together with three others in two separate raids Tuesday morning. "The four men were arrested in Ampang and Batu Caves, and are in their 30s and 40s," said a source. The source added that one of the suspects then led police to a house in Taman Jati, Rawang, at about 10am Wednesday. A T-shirt, believed to have been worn by the gunman on the day Shaharuddin was shot, was found there. "The men are now in the Putrajaya police headquarters' lock-up," he said. Shaharuddin, who headed the Customs and Internal Tax Unit Division, was a year away from retirement when he was shot on April 26 last year. The Negri Sembilan-born Shaharuddin served the Department for over 30 years, where his work earned him the moniker "Mr Clean". http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014...erer-arrrested/ |

QUOTE(menj @ Jul 15 2014, 02:35 AM) Iron Dome: Because missile/rocket interception is a difficult thing. Size, accuracy and cost are among the main reason why it is developed.I haz a noob question: why does Israel see a need to develop their own anti-rocket system, instead of simply just buying those from US (Patriot) or UK (Jernas)? Firing a Patriot is too expensive, too big, dispropotionate to the size and threat level. The Israeli's have Arrow missile, more suited to counter ballistic missiles threat, but for rockets/artillery/mortar threat? They gonna need something smaller. And cheaper. |

RMN rescues vessel from pirates
JOHOR BARU: The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) today rescued a vessel carrying marine gas oil from falling to the hand of sea pirates. The navy who received a distress call from the vessel's MT Oriental Glory on Tuesday had deployed its KD Terengganu to the vessel which was stranded at the east of Johor water near South China Sea. In a statement , RMN media management director Commander Ismail Othman said the vessel were carrying 2,500 metric tonne of marine gas oil when it was attacked by pirates at 11.45pm on Tuesday night. "The pirates manage to flee with the vessel's content but failed to take the ship as its anchoring system was faulty," he said. He said the pirate took with them the marine gas oil and had also damaged the ship navigating system before leaving it and the ships crew stranded in the open sea. None of MT Oriental Glory crew ship were harmed in the incident. Due to the damages, Ismail said the vessel had to be towed to shore by KD Terengganu. Sauce: http://www.nst.com.my/node/13712 |
