QUOTE(thpace @ Sep 2 2014, 11:36 AM) For? Any an picture? Haha Yup.. very high up. It most likely to avoid the comonder sight system below Yes. Looks like it is to avoid the commander sight near the hatch of the TC by looking at this pic. But very vulnerable & easy target for snipers. Even the Israeli Merkava Mk.4 TC got shot in the head by Hamas in Operation Protective Edge by only exposing his head just above the hatch. QUOTE(thpace @ Sep 2 2014, 01:23 PM) Thre a remote operated gun system but i think it too expensive option which the army didn't pucrhase. Forget its name ad. Plus, I think the commander does not see the need for such expensive option given that this is just like our first tank divisions. Gaining experience and updating doctrine would be more vital. Maybe next time will get much more advance tanks compared to this soviet design base on T72 The name acronym is RCWS. IMO it is not whether the RCWS is expensive or not but most probably it is due to the cramped interior of the T-Series tank. Just imagine adding another LCD monitor + joysticks controller into an already cramped space interior.

QUOTE(thpace @ Sep 2 2014, 02:29 PM) Could be that or all other reason. Personally, asking the commander to stand tat high without even a side protection like the one found on adnan. Is death sentence to the commander during operation.. so easy sniper target or shell fragment. The T-series tank are designed to be small and agile. Not spacious and comfortable like the western one. Btw the t series is also famous for it blow off turret. Reason for is the way and whre the ammunition are stored inside the tank crew compartment instead of the turret like in western one. But in malaysia, fast and agile is more important than heavy comfortable tanks. Hahaha There is a new Russian T-72 TUSK prototype designed for urban warefare with a cupola protecting the back & side of the TC/gunner. But to me it looks weird.
