i'm fairly a noobie when it comes to overclocking... i read Tomshardware and they suggested that Pentium D 805 is the best bang for buck chip for Overclocking...
now what about AMD? what's the recommended chip? in terms of bang for buck la...cause my budget tight...
thanks...

what is the motherboard i should be using for overclock? and also the ram?
i believe CPU, Mobo + ram is the most important stuff to consider first when wanna overclock right?

i think i'll get the AMD 64 3000+ Venice... since it's not that expensive... waht's the best MOBO to pair with this CPU? And also what is the recommended graphics card to pair this up? QUOTE(victor_hoh @ Aug 7 2006, 08:23 PM) Athlon 64 3000+ Venice. The best bang for the buck. To run this chip on stock is a sin!!

goldenhawk... trying to limit my budget as low as possible...but if it's worth getting...then i don't mind paying extra... will try to keep my budget to RM1.5k to RM2k max... Basically, the budget only for AMD 64 3000+, suitable MOBO, ram? and most likely a graphics card... the rest like HDD, DVDROM and monitor etc, I can reuse back my old stuff... QUOTE(GoldenHawk @ Aug 8 2006, 09:57 AM) Forgot 1 vital question... "belapa luit lu ala?" ... answering this will decide which direction to go

guys...
can someone explain to me on Memory used for overclocking? quote from anandtech article,
"We chose Mushkin PC3200 Value RAM rated for PC3200 operation at 2.5-3-3-8 timings"
What's the 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 8 timing about? CL2? CL2.5? what are those numbers? 3-3-8?
Appreciate your input here... thanks...
