Hi all,

While i am surveying for HUs, this is one of the models recommended by the salesperson.

I am listening more towards RnBs and currently, i am having MTX components for front and a 10" subwoofer. Both are driven separately by a 4 ch and 2 ch cheap amps. My current HU is Pionner 1650 and thinking of upgrading my HU before moving to the components and amps..

This is what i got from the web but would like to listen to the owners or anyone who experience the sound produced by this Hu. Please advice. Thanks. smile.gif

My budget is around RM800.

1.) Preferable to have mp3 format supported as lazy to keep changing CDs tongue.gif
2.) 2 RCA pre-out
There are more..but i can recall these for the time being.. biggrin.gif

Hi loon1031,

Do you have any idea is there any shops in Penang island that sells more variety of Pioneer HUs? AND provide a good installation?

I am staying near Bayan Lepas area and the shops here only stock in a few models.. (really few.. )

I personally don't really like Sony HU, tested few models already, the vocal not warm. the music reproduction is not natural.

I just bought a current model Sony HU for 1750. I like it. 4v preouts, time alignment, decent sound.

Im using GT550. y? Aux input feature wanted for my SE W550 phone.

The new GT series much different with 04/05 HU batch(those r really sensitive), eg, once insert mp3/wma it takes abt 5 seconds to play. (not like older batch, take an age century to "scan/read" whole CD)

Been using old CDRW to test new mp3/wma, no issue to play out.

ya, it builts with 3x RCA output.

For budget less or equal Rm6xx HU, thats not much different on SQ wise. Its wat u pay n wat u get.

Some said how good on Alpine/Clarion, look at their price, whether suit your budget n necessity.

Hmm... after using GT550 quite some time, been thinking is that any DVD HU available, maint for create own MP3/wma on 8.4GB DVD...phew... a year not necessary take the media out? rclxms.gif

Does it means after several months, the hu can't read other media i.e. mp3 on DVDR?

My suggstion is, bring ur own media (CD/mp3/wma/aux device) to test those HU in ur list, dats the way to choose.

I work at Bayan Lepas..hehe!
For ICE Shop at Penang, Don't go to Brothers loh..

Sorry .. I not big fan of Pioneer..!
For me, Pioneer < RM700 HU If using flat setting(without setting)....the sound quality really "kasar"!
Because I play flat setting ma...

Maybe you can try Clarion le...HU Around RM700 quite nice
