Hardware Unboxed did a review on the Samsung Odyssey G7:

That's the only VA I will buy. I don't really mind the glow that much but I can't stand of "dark smearing" with other VA (looking at my Samsung TV).

sigh my Acer XB271HU backlight broke, just got myself Acer XV272UP to replace with G Sync Compatible. Hopefully not much issues

Hey man want to ask about XV272UP comparing to the XB271HU in terms of color, contrast and stuff... I don't think there's much difference in 144/165hz. Just want to know how doe the newer mid-range monitor fared compared to the older high-end ones.

Well, all i can say is mixed feelings. I feel the Gsync compatible isn't that bad, it's still smooth but very slightly less smooth than real gsync.

The newer panel of the XV272HU obviously has better brightness and colour gamut, DCIP3 vs XB271HU's sRGB. better contrast on the XB271HU, but sometimes things looked too dark and you need to adjust the black level in the settings. Faster and smoother OSD on the XV272HU but the settings itself are more clunky. 1ms doesn't work with freesync (gsync compatible uses this), no extreme overdrive with freesync. My game has funny game freeze whenever I turn my monitor back on while still inside the game, I need to minimize the screen to desktop and back to the game to have it run again (minor issue). My XB271HU only limitation is gsync can't be run with ULMB, well because of obvious reasons, but no other limitations on like certain settings will be disabled with gsync turned on, and the graphics card communicates with gsync better, just works.

But the biggest disappointment for me is, the panel seems like slow, even though it had advertised faster gtg for the the XV272HU, but panning in games especially on first person games felt the images doesn't move or showed fast enough and seemed like it was very little bit "slideshowy". The XB271HU is way smoother. I don't know if it was the LCD panel or the gsync-compatible without nvidia gsync processor in the monitor. So the XV272HU felt like and upgrade and downgrade at the same time. Plus I can't find the monitor with gsync at the shop and I had to buy one yesterday before lockdown haha. I'll just live with it for now, abit annoying but 144 is still better than 60hz monitor.

The XB271HU has better stand, the XV272U has HDMI 2.0 and two of them, 3 years warranty for the XV272U too even thought it's a budget 1440p 144hz monitor. The XV272U was colour calibrated by acer at the factory which is really nice, comes with a certificate too. XB271HU has slightly smaller bezel at the top, left and right. There's Acer predator model almost like the XV272HU too with rm2299 price tag, no idea that would fair, i didn't pick that because it's using gsync compatible too (I would have picked that if it had real gsync board in it)

Thank for the long review haha! It's great to hear the panel have great color out of the box. Sound like the contrast is really good, but yeah I understand the dark that looks good is also a disadvantage in spotting enemy hiding there.

I guess the older XB271HU panel is really tuned for speed. I don't use the fastest OD on my monitor (XB270HU) too, the crosstalk is too bad, I find fast setting is good enough. After fiddling with ULMB and Gsync I decided to just stick with Gysnc for better brightness and slightly better latency, i know placebo LOL. I think you'll get used to the "slideshowy" issue.

I wouldn't picked the predator too since it is almost the same feature.

Hi how's the monitor for gaming? I'm thinking of upgrading to a 240hz 1440p and seems like this one fits the bill. I don't need HDR.

Hi guys, is it very likely that the issue is with the panel itself? (the connection from the panel to the board?)
Acer XZ342CU, just 2 months out of warranty. It’s confirmed to be a monitor issue, just checking if this is repairable cost-effectively.

Thanks

I bought this monitor and it became defective after 2 years. The bottom 1/5 of the screen show flashing lines across the screen, like the 2nd post above. I sent for RMA with Advancenet Puchong.

Asus offered me VG27AQM5A (QHD 300Hz IPS) but I requested for ROG Strix XG27ACDMS (QHD 280Hz QD-OLED), and they say OK. So now I got my first OLED monitor. Haven't really compare to my Sony oled TV yet, but it is really great for FPS games.

Just hoping this budget oled monitor doesn't break so soon like the TUF monitor.
