from what i learned in here, if you did photo and video editing an i7 will help alot. or maybe a xeon.
with enough ram, you will reduce rendering time. see it myself from the the tech community.

gaming in the other hand, isnt much CPU intensive. it will become for the next year tho as much games now do take advantage of extra core like BF4 and Watch dog.
but in the meantime an i5 already good.

so if you do works and gaming on the same pc, go for both.
choose better CPU and a good GPU. nod.gif
a combination of i7/xeon with GTX770 or R9 280x is good enough imo.

lets wait for more experience masterpc race to comment laugh.gif

it depands on software too some of them will use more on overall cpu perfomance and amount of ram and some just need kick ass from cpu...
build ALL IN ONE system in tight bujet is hard to build up ... unless you can deal with losse some perfomance on one of app..

and before that if you person more enjoy into on9 multiplayer game well you need big amount of ram in 1st place. minimum around 8gb ..
can list app and some game you wan to play ?

If you're just encoding short videos (a few minutes type) then the difference between i5 and i7 wouldn't be apparent.

Just go for Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 RM799 if u're not Overclocking.About 190-200 ringgit cheaper,only .1GHz slower and no iGP. wink.gif

what's this definition of A LOT of photo editing?

I do a lot of photo editing on AMD A10 5800K APU with 8GB RAM. I don't feel much of a difference between it and my higher end processors.

just take that xeon 1230 v3, it is the same i7-4770 oni without iGPU, that is why it is cheaper. since u planning on having discrete GPU, take this for value for money. forget that i5, forget that costly i7-4770 which cost u on thing u dont need (the iGPU)

Just go for the Intel Xeon E3-1230v3.

It's pretty much an i7-4770 (4 core 8 threads) at 100mhz (very negligible) reduced clock speed (not 1ghz!) and lack an IGP (you'll need to have a discrete GPU).
