"因从海外购买的物品总值一旦超过400令吉,就需要缴付6%的消费税。"

beli barang oversea yg melebihi RM 400, kena bayar 6% GST.

The new said like: Pigi travel oversea, shopping shopping.....Then bring back items....kena bayar GST juga. Kalau shipping.....i not clear.  hmm.gif
"举个例子,从台湾旅游返国若带回价值500令吉的商品,扣除400令吉面额度后,其余100令吉必须要缴消费税。"

example, pigi luar negara taiwan,  barang (stock) RM 500 bawa dari taiwan, setelah tolak RM 400  (面额度后/ i dono wat is this), the remaining RM 100 need to pay as GST.
hmm.gif  hmm.gif

i google 面额度 = Credit limited.

Good luck lah.

oh, deduct rm400 left a bit only lah; my problem is more to the hassle needed to pay tax if it does happen

Damn, all this GST talk is freaking me out...I looked up a few things on the Kastam(GST) website, which is worse than crap...It says that GST will be charged on the cost+shipping+any customs/excise duty... Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean if Kastam charge you, you will have to pay GST ON TOP OF THE KASTAM DUTY...??? I hope I just misunderstood this, and someone can prove me wrong, but if I'm right, we'll be paying more than just 6% extra cry.gif ...

Only half correct - the so-called excise duty are for things like cigarettes, alcohol, and some luxury stuff that have separate taxes applied. You cant expect a Ferrari or a Lamborghini to be taxed only 6% right? If there are only taxed 6% an Aventador wouldnt be priced at RM2.8million - it'd be much lower. Stuff like cigarettes are taxed 300%, and will be taxed another 6% on purchase/transaction.

Any other things (sundry, electronics, garments, toys, etc) that are not in this exemption list (usually luxury stuff and specific items that have higher taxes like tobacco products) will never be taxed upon import - taxes are only charged on consumers based on how much they spend. When u spend in a supermarket, you are taxed 6% for each transaction (but some food, petrol and essential stuff are exempted). It is no different from the Japan tax system, you see things like 9800yen (10,584yen) - 2 prices written on the figure box. The higher price is the final amount consumers pay for - after a 8% GST tax.

When you buy online and import it, it is also considered as a transaction and may be eligible to 6% GST it it passes the maximum amount (price) allowed, but there are no other taxes applied, only this 6% GST.

My worry about GST would be that the parcel will always kena tahan, which later you need to go to kastam and open the parcel for checking. NSFW figure no chance to slip past kastam dy

I've actually been stalking amazon jp more than I do any other site lately... sweat.gif One of the best(and worst) things about amazon jp is that once a figure starts binning, you never know how low it'll go...Buy too soon, and the price will keep on dropping, but if you take too long, the price goes back up...Similar to amiami, but amazon change their bin pricing almost on a daily basis...Too bad not all figures can be shipped here, like this one (had to use proxy, but still worth it)...

Just paid the shipping fee (EMS) to the proxy that ordered this figure for me months ago, gonna gamble whether my parcel will be detain or not (total value around 15k yen after shipping fee is added)..... Since that proxy never undervalue item(s) for customers, plus the current exchange rate is quite meh atm..... unsure.gif
