quick question guys. i have already panel lined, applied decals to my gundam but i have not top coated it yet. Can i still glue my parts together? If so, this will be an unpainted kit, will it look messy?. What do you recommend I use?. and lastly, do i apply the glue before or after top coating?

QUOTE(TheAdmiral @ Aug 12 2014, 04:06 PM) The cement will melt the plastic to bond the 2 pieces 2gether, the excess plastic will ooze out and u have to sand it away. Everytime when sanding is involve u'll have to either okay i will take that into account. thank you for your advicea) paint b) polish c) both When u sand/polish, the decals will be destroyed in the process. After u sand there will be scratch marks everywhere and it will have to be covered with paints. Since u dont plan to paint it to begin with and to top it off u already decal it, its better for u not to glue it at all. Decals should be the 2nd last step. Unless u plan to buy aftermarket decals to replace the current ones, u might as well proceed to top coat it and just finish it as is. No point going back several steps to glue and sand now. Learn from this and plan ahead better next time. |

hi sifus. im going to build my second gunpla soon. From building my first one, i did :
-removing nubs by using a hobby knife and low to high grit sandpaper -assembly -panel lining -decals/stickers -flat topcoat Going into my second gunpla, i was thinking of doing seam line removal and weathering. My plan to do this is by: -removing nubs by using a hobby knife and low to high grit sandpaper -assemble -seam line removal + progressive sanding -panel lining -weathering, apply decals (dry transfer) /stickers -flat topcoat Will this be a good approach to my second gundam? Appreciate your insight. Thanks |

QUOTE(chyll2 @ Sep 9 2014, 12:32 AM) you can check most of the colors here as sprayed in a white spoon. if you got white and planning to do a subtle off-white shades to other parts, I think AS20 will do. Yea I saw this site. But I'm not sure if it'll be any different from the unpainted white. I'm going for a clean build by spray can only. For the blues, metallic blue TS19. Any recommendations on what I should spray the white with? My initial plan was to spray it with metallic blue, and grayish white for the white parts but I can't seem to find a slight grayish white spray can colour. I also plan to top it over with a gloss coat. Will flat coating look good on metallic?http://otakurevolution.com/content/laymans...aint-references This post has been edited by sixtydee123: Sep 9 2014, 12:48 AM |

Can anyone enlighten me on the differences between Mr Surfacer 1000, Mr Base White 1000, and Mr White Surfacer 1000? Which one should I use if I want a white primer?

QUOTE(General_Nic @ Sep 10 2014, 01:30 PM) if you want white primer, either Mr Base White 1000 or Mr White Surfacer 1000 will do Okay thanks for clearing it up for me. Does anyone know any hobby shops in KL/selangor that has a wide variety of tamiya spray cans? Called XL, time machine and gamersarena. No luck with finding Tamiya Racing Blue Ts-51Mr Surfacer 1000 is gray in colour but I suggest White Surfacer better as it has more of 'primer' properties |

QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Sep 10 2014, 02:32 PM) The best place to buy a Tamiya spray paint is of course at Tamiya shop itself. Tamiya Underground at One Utama, a whole range of Tamiya products One week of event, will go to the warehouse first QUOTE(General_Nic @ Sep 10 2014, 02:38 PM) as mushy mentioned, you might have more luck finding it in Tamiya Undergroundz okay thanks guys. if not in stock, I suggest buying online as online shops/sellers usually have more choices in stock here is one example http://www.jshobby.cc/goods.php?id=3254 |

-Do I need to sand again AFTER priming?
-I am going to spray paint my gundam by priming, then applying a TS-38 Gun Metal basecoat, then a another coat on top with TS-31 Racing Blue for a dark metallic finish. What topcoat should i use?, I heard a gloss topcoat will kill off the metallic effect. Is that true? |

QUOTE(ywyap @ Sep 10 2014, 05:12 PM) meaning you must apply primary gloss color before apply gun metal.btw i tried tamiya gun metal without any base gloss coat and it doesnt feel metallic at all.maybe you can try this on plastic spoon first. Thanks for the heads up. You just saved my RM100. I was relying totally on the picture. I skimmed through some youtube videos like this one. Guess i'll just drop all my plans to get metallic effect by spray cans. The glitter is just too unappealing. Maybe i'll try them in the future when i invest in an airbrush.primary black gloss ->gun metal->racing blue. Guess i'll proceed with my other plan. The kit i'm building is the MG 00 Raiser. -Can i get a grayish white on the white armor if i prime it with a gray primer and paint it with Tamiya Matt White TS-27? -Can you recommend me a spray can colour that is close to the PG version or the one in the series? something like this one maybe This post has been edited by sixtydee123: Sep 10 2014, 05:32 PM |
