QUOTE(golbeza @ Jun 23 2014, 09:19 PM) It's designs like this that keeps me away from this hobby (why are v-fins getting replaced by bull horns?). I mean, I had a hard time accepting 00's shoulder bra cones, but was still generally ok. Unicorn was good but overused; Age was killing; Builders and Build Fighters killed it for me. Thunderbolts got me slightly excited but it was still an overkill. The problem is Bandai's main concern seems to be "how can we milk an existing mould?", hence the designs. And the "new" designs tend to look like variations from popular designs. Not saying that it's wrong to do so, but it may get generic and become bland overtime. Maybe I'm picky. Maybe I'm getting old for Gundam. Forgive me for the rant. |

QUOTE(afsarudy @ Jun 24 2014, 10:29 AM) Who knows, maybe it looks ugly and worse proportion what-so-ever but in today's generation eyes, they look awesome. You know, I think you're right! Maybe that's why I can't accept Gen Z boys who carry handbags (or those in self denial, waistpouches that sling over their shoulders) or skinny fit pants that fold up to 3-quarters. I never get those... |

QUOTE(TheAdmiral @ Jun 24 2014, 11:22 AM) Its ironic that ur rant about generic/ugly design in itself is generic. U seems to be under the impression that all this is new and recent, hell no, it has existed since the 90s. I know it's not new. I get what you're saying but what's passed is past. As I mentioned before, it becomes bland overtime, which is contributed by the continuing trend (thus, i did not say it's a new and recent thing, but that feeling peaked in the last few years). They should change it up a bit to keep things spicy but definitely not changing the V-fins to bull's horns! Most people still can't accept Turn A. Keep the main characteristics of a Gundam, but keep it fresh. Or are you gonna say it's ironically paradoxical again? QUOTE(TheAdmiral @ Jun 24 2014, 11:44 AM) Oh a hardcore Gundam fan? Sorry i bent your V-fin. It's fine between different animes because there's no continuity, and there could only be so much variations to a mecha design before it looks too organic. Don't you feel car designs copy each other a bit too? |

QUOTE(gaiachronicler @ Jun 27 2014, 10:55 AM) Well, I noticed from the webscripts that it's caused by the main page. Skip through that, and there's no problem. ![]() ![]() Well, not exactly a model kit but kudos to Bandai for taking this approach. We've already seen Mesarion+'s Keita do this for umpteen years in model kit form and finally we'll be able to get our hands on something similar to his work of art, at mass-production prices. I wonder how will the joints hold up though... |

QUOTE(nazrul90 @ Jul 19 2014, 03:54 PM) again, thats a bias view you guys are feeding by the "destined to be destroyed" in anime, nothing to do with gunpla gunpla is scaled model, the way to expressing your passion in plastic modelling I support all the grunts and main suit as long it have better view of gunpla should be, some of them I initially hate but its turn out grow(like) with me Well said, naz. It could still be the protagonist's Gundam, but that doesn't mean it didn't get destroyed in the movie. The act of painting a Gunpla with the intention of creating a homage itself is praiseworthy, and it is not judged by that person's choice of Gunpla. I think even a heavily weathered Zaku II with a tiny painted Malaysian flag across its shoulder pauldron would look excellent. Now where did I put my picture of Merdeka Gundam 00Q...? |

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Aug 8 2014, 09:37 PM) Try visiting Modelland Workshop in Magazine Road. If you can't find the address online, drop me a pm. QUOTE(jason_tan1980 @ Aug 10 2014, 05:40 PM) How is the build quality of metal build compare to MG? is the articulation and joint as strong as Metal build? durable for play, or jz for display only? Having owned both MG Destiny & MB Destiny, I'll try to answer you, but keep in mind I'm not comparing MG & MB 00R directly. In a sentence, MB's build quality, articulation and joint stifness is better than MG's. I wouldn't say it's durable for play but it should be strong enough to withstand multiple pose changes, at least better than an MG. QUOTE(jason_tan1980 @ Aug 10 2014, 06:25 PM) for my impression, gunpla is always quite fragile and not durable for frequent change of posing and articulation, the joint will get loosen once you played too long. it is light and only for display. What you said is true, but there is absolutely no action figure or model kit that will not get loose when played with overtime. Wear and tear will always be there. So will friction and gravity. Model kits have always been engineered for display, and never for play. QUOTE(jason_tan1980 @ Aug 10 2014, 08:03 PM) besides, I am hot toys and diecast car collector before, so I am looking for some playable and durable quality similar as these both. A diecast car is very durable but not very playable (except rolling it on floor). A HotToys figure is playable but not very durable (leather peeling off, rubber cracking, color fading, loose joints, thin fragile parts). So if you're looking for something that fulfills BOTH of those criteria, I would say it doesn't exist, not even a fully diecast action figure because weight itself will kill whatever joint durability it has. I would say an MB would suit you better than an MG. Articulation for MB Destiny is superior to its MG counterpart at least for the upper torso, shoulders and arms. Legs and feet articulation are mostly the same for both. Built mostly out of ABS plastic with some diecast parts (similar to the Masterpiece Optimus Prime MP10 and Soundwave MP13), MB Destiny has better weight distribution to offset the huge and heavy wings. It is even heavier, more poseable and more durable than your HT Iron Man Mark VI despite it being smaller! I'm not kidding. The paintjob is flawless. Articulation is superb. Only thing offsetting is the price but I would say it's worth it. Try holding one in your hand. It will not disappoint. Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(xein @ Aug 27 2014, 07:58 PM) Is this supposed to be a pun? QUOTE(mf_yamato @ Aug 27 2014, 08:16 PM) If I'm not mistaken, Jahannam means the deepest stage of Hell in Arabic, which is a pretty cool name. QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Aug 27 2014, 10:17 PM) Jesus. Essay. Chill. I wasn't asking for the nightingale to be spiderman nor to be an MG, and the "brick" was a statement not a complaint. I wonder why both of you seemed annoyed by my statement. Ya know, he tends to overdo that sometimes. QUOTE(PoorVenderz @ Aug 28 2014, 07:11 PM) Do check your other MGs too. That part and the shoulders often suffer that problem if unmoved for a long period of time. The moving parts "stick" to each other because it's too tight, and will break off if you try to move them. Sand them down a bit before plugging it in if it feels too tight. This post has been edited by Parody: Aug 29 2014, 11:58 AM |

QUOTE(Lacersan @ Sep 27 2014, 03:48 PM) I'm more worried about the transformation making the kit less rigid and stable, especially the bump in size adds on to the weight. Just compare the MG and HG versions and you'll see what I mean. Anyhow, just wait for their variations before deciding. QUOTE(asuk @ Sep 28 2014, 05:12 PM) Nice turret placement. |
