The paint is not solid, it is glossy. Which means it reflects light better. Just google gloss-coated gunpla and compare it to the popular flat-coated gunpla (the same kit) for comparison.

Err people are buying mainly for the Trans Am color, on top of being an RG which is known for the realistic (duh!) and accurate colors, modelers don't have to paint by themselves.

Err it's the same, you need to paint it and seal it with UV resistant top coat. You can use Mr. Super Clear UV or various more brands, can be found in Ace Hardware.

To what extend do you consider as 'play'? Model kits have, and will always be for display purposes.

Practically the same, but to me that is still what you normally do with model kits, posing them. By 'playing', it's more like what kids would do, drop them, hit them, throw them to the air like etc . If you build the gunpla, by right you should know where the possible high stress joints were, and should be careful when moving that particular joint. Case in point, Sinanju(/Stein) waist to torso joint.

Yeah, especially with newer kits, the MGs are definitely cool to 'play' with. The moving pistons, the exposed actuators, sliding armors etc

I suggest to get an MG over HG. For an adult you should have no problem to comprehend the assembly. Get a good yet reasonably priced MG like Jesta.

Not really. Sure, they will reduce the price for certain MG and make them really good bargains (like the Titus and Jesta), but other than that nothing impressive. Yeah they will bring out some of the limited items once in a while

You can use high % of IP alcohol. Or RM 3 nail polish remover should work like a charm. Use Q tips to gent but firmly rub on surfaces with decal applied, and just use cloth on surfaces without decal applied.

If the weather is good, you can start spraying the top coat under sunlight. 10am and above should be OK.
