Speaking of which..On a not really related topic.

My 17 years old cousin cannot even imagine how to assemble these "insanely" (according to him) sophisticated Gunpla. He asked, what if you cannot figure out how to do it? What if you did it wrong?

With all due respect, I really think kids this gen are playing a little too much of video games. A little handcraft and skills will be healthy for them.

I know I will share the love of Gunpla with my kids in the future. I am going to start with SD Hi Nu Gundam.
*
Well it's easy to be overwhelmed.. I started when I was in Secondary school from SD > 1/100 > HG > MG

Latest challenge will try to apply Spray Can Top Coating.. still no courage/dedication to try spray painting...

Doesn't really jump onto hi-nu ship, I prefer the much sleeker looks of Nu.
*
I know purist would prefer this more true-to-original bulky Hi-Nu.

but I still regret that this Hi-Nu ver.Ka doesn't based on the same design language as Nu ver.Ka which I one of my all time favourite.. just personal taste... blush.gif

I'll keep telling myself, "at least the design look better than AGE"

I'm sure the anime will be decent, but not gonna buy a single kit from this series..

As much as the cool factor, I don't like kits with too heavy backpack or accessories. It's just like FA unicorn.
*
same page here... that's why I think the Plain Red Frame with a katana is the best.

The paint is not solid, it is glossy. Which means it reflects light better. Just google gloss-coated gunpla and compare it to the popular flat-coated gunpla (the same kit) for comparison.
*
I dun understand. I try to apply the plastic gloss by apply top coat. but people are buying into limited edition for extra glossy plastic laugh.gif

QUOTE(TheAdmiral @ Aug 8 2014, 01:53 PM)
There is no discernible difference between the 2. The OVA ver was release to fix the knee bend flaws of the original ver ka, the rest r just minor aesthetics. FAU already includes the knee fix so there is no reason to have another version of FAU, besides if u wan OVA version well just remove the javalin and woila. Unless of course u r very particular about anime accuracy and the missing tiny vulcan drives u nuts.
Correction: FAU ver ka already includes the knee bend fix. Its missing the head vulcan and fix open/close horn v fin.

Metal composite version is the best! thumbup.gif

How is the build quality of metal build compare to MG?
is the articulation and joint as strong as Metal build? durable for play, or jz for display only?
*
both are models which are for display only. If you looking for action figure level of durability, can try look for Robot Damashi series.

Metal Build used die-cast joints which is more strong to hold the model in certain positions.
And the heavier body also helps the model to balance itself, especially for those kits with large backpack.

I personally highly recommend Metal Build series. thumbup.gif

Waiting for red frame to release in metal build, I like it's PG version damn much, but not dare to build it. rclxub.gif
*
I feel you too... would buy the heck out of pre-built gundam model since I have no patient to horn my modelling skill sweat.gif
the even worse thing that pull me from collecting Robot Damashi is they are non-scaled... shakehead.gif so I'll stick with HG.

if you said u played with hottoys before(money is not a problem),
why don't you buy an MG and commissioned it to pro modeler...
*
Good suggestion, when money is not a problem. A good modeler makes heaven to hell difference. thumbup.gif

metal build is not for everyone...
it's a one time production (correct me if i'm wrong, not too sure bout it)

they also introduce formania for collectors, but then, it's just a bust display only... highly details...
*
Formania is a cool idea. super detail. rclxms.gif but I guess the profits weren't good. they only made 2 of them...

what the? you talk about the durability issue now talking about weight
either way it still for collector purpose and not for playing

you already been spoiled from HotToys
how about continue collect HotToys instead?
*
chill down bro, jason_tan only asking comparison of MG and MB to HT since he only own HT out of these 3... He's not trash talking Gunpla... icon_rolleyes.gif

Non scale pretty much bugs people because it doesnt match anywhere.. so lets say theres no decent HG deathscythe hell.. and RD comes out with one, hooray?
Nope.. he wont fit into your wing shelf because he's non scale, not 1/144, so to make him fit in u need to buy all the other RD wing figures so they look proportionate
*
and they are not even to scale within their own line, like RD deathscythe will have different scale with RD Unicorn.
Guess that's why they are Figure, not Model.

Not a complaint, just stating my preference, and regret that I can't join in the fun for this new figure line.
