Just got the game from Djinn last night, man the save system is just so.......FRUSTRATING! I just defeated Adam the Wacko Clown, and was just too lazy to get to a restroom (stupid) and decided to just run across even with the 3 convicts on the loose. I thought, well, I managed to run away from them once, I can do it again, right?

Now I have to fight Mr Crazy Clown again..... sad.gif

QUOTE
Dead Rising has been out for a good week now, and all who wished to witness its beauty, has (for the most part). Now that we all have a grasp on the controls and weve unlocked all three modes of play, 72 hours, overtime, and Endless. Now, im not saying you suck at this game, Im just assuming that most of you havent got the 7 day survival achievement yet. And I dont blame you...its hard. Sooooo...I whipped up four pieces of bread with chocolate hazelnut spread, sat down at my computer, and typed up this little "Survival Guide". I have spent the last 14 hours searching the mall for all useful items and locations in wich to hide...Ive also compiled a list of useful food items and were to find them. So, if your stuck and need a helping hand, read on.

Things you should have/know before starting this 14 hour marathon,

1. You should be lvl 50 and have a good knowledge of all the moves
2. The "Real Mega Buster" is probably the most useful item during this mode...have it
3. Lots of spare time...you cant save, and its 14 hours real time for 7 days
4. A good knowledge of the mall areas and the fastest roots between them

Once you begin,
Grab your Mega Man Gun...before you even think about food and bosses, theres 3 books that your going to need to make food last longer.
1. In the Entrance Plaza, head to the top floor and into the store "Sinister Read". Theres a book there entitled Heal +1, grab it
2. In the Wonderland Plaza, head to the top floor and into the store "Sir Book Alot". Theres another book called Heal +1, grab it
3. In the North part of the mall, to the left of the home hardware store, theres a room with another Heal +1 book, grab it
Good, now you are carying 3 books that all together add 200% more health from food items

So, what now?
Basically the whole purpose of this mode is to survive...your health is constantly draining and your being hunted by the bosses. What I suggest you do is stock up on food during the day and hide during the night...the only exception to this is the beginning, since it starts off at midnight. There is limited food in the mall (not enough to survive 7 days). Im telling you now that the food you find in the mall should be a last resort. Let me explain,
You are not the only survivor in the mall, it is also filled with fimiliar boss characters and other random people...all of wich your going to kill. When you kill a boss or survivor, they drop items. Usually weapons and some food (bosses drop more food, and usually better). Since you have the mega man gun, you can pick them off pretty easily. Stock up on food from them during the day and then go into hiding during the night. The best place to hide would be just outside the ventilation shaft, zombies cant reach you and your near the security room (incase you need more ammo). Keep this up for 14 hours straight and you should have no problem!

What if I cant find bosses or Survivors for food?
If you cant find anything (or anyone) to kill, and you really really need food...theres some hidden in the mall...to save you the trouble I ran around to every store in every area and find all the worthwhile food. If your going to go hunting, might as well know were it is,

Paradise Plaza:
1. On the bottom floor, in "Jill's Sandwiches" theres 2 breads and 1 Orange Juice
2. On the bottom floor, in "Kid's Choice Clothing" theres 1 Orange Juice
3. On the top floor, in the coffee place, theres 2 pies and 2 Orange juices

MovieLand:
1. In the consession stand, theres 1 coffee creamer and 2 snacks
2. In theatre 2, theres 1 pie and 1 coffee creamer
3. In theatre 3, theres 1 bread and 1 coffee creamer
4. In theatre 5, theres 1 cabbage

Entrance Plaza:
1. On the bottom floor, outside "The Distinguished Gentleman", theres an Orange Juice in the rubble of items
2. On the bottom floor, inside "Rafael's Shoes", theres a grapefruit
3. On the top floor, inside "Kicks for Her", theres an Orange juice
4. On the top floor, the store to the left of Shoehorn, theres a yogurt and apple

Food Court:
1. In "Chris's Finefoods", theres 4 wines
2. In "Spicy Meatball", theres 2 zucchini's
3. In "Central Tacos", theres 2 corns
4. In "Meaty's Burgers", theres 1 bread

El Fresca Plaza:
1. In "Hamburger Fiefdom", theres 3 Orange Juices
2. In the coffee place, theres 3 pies and 1 milk
3. In the gym, theres 1 milk

Wonderland Plaza:
1. On the bottom floor, in "Jewels", theres 2 apples
2. On the top floor, in "Lovely Fashion House", theres 1 yogurt
3. On the top floor, the store to the left of Philos Photos, theres 1 apple

North Plaza:
1. In the safe area were you meet Isabela at midnight (when Carlito shoots her), theres 2 wines
2. Inside the home hardware store, by the cash registers, theres an orange and japanese radish

Meat Processing Plant:
1. Theres 2 milks

Doesnt seem like alot, does it? To the best of my knowledge (and lots of searching) this is pretty much it for major food items. There are snacks and cookies hidden everywhere also, but they dont do enough to be used for over night camping. And again, like I said, this is backup food if you cant find any bosses or survivors during the day...hope it helps

Time Chart:
You lose 1 life every 30 min (2.5 real minutes)
1 hour is 5 min
1 day is 2 hours
7 days is 14 hours

Last Bit of advice,
1. When killing a boss, dont let the zombies finish them off, if they get the last hit, the boss wount drop the box of stuff
2. After you survive the first 5 days, the laser sword (obviously a lightsaber) will be added to the security room...it rapes, use it
3. Just becuase you cant save, dont mean you cant take a break...do this mode in sections...pause every once and awhile to rest
4. The most useful tool at your disposal when surround by zombies is the "Double Lariat" move...use it if surrounded or to clear a path (if you dont have the laser sword)
5. This modes purpose is to keep you on your toes at all times...dont let it stress you out...its ment to have fun

This guide is by no means perfect or complete...if you have some useful info that can be added to it, just post it below and ill do my best. You do not have to follow this guide if you dont want to...it was created only to aid, not dictate

14 hours straight play is just .... sweat.gif

If you load game, your stats don't carry over. It only carries over if you choose to restart the whole thing tongue.gif

What, you don't like it? It was fun when I had Frank wearing a Servbot helmet laugh.gif

Well, usually when I get bored with the helmet, just go and find a beauty shop or something like that. Find a hair colouring rack and "wear" the new colour. No more helmet smile.gif

Man....playing 6 hours straight is pretty scary stuff, especially considering many reports that DR is killing 360s... tongue.gif

A stupid question, where is the bowling alley? Been trying to get that bowling achievement but I just cannot find a bowling ball laugh.gif

Yeah, the maintenance tunnels seem to be the best bet for zombie strike. I'm also there for the 50 target markers achievement, but so far haven't been able to photograph anywhere near that much. Any tips for this one? Do you need to be far from the zombies, or close to them?

Is there an easy way to defeat the helicopter? I keep running out of bullets for my Machine Guns before I can defeat it. sad.gif

Oh, I notice a bit of slowdown in the game, usually after I come down from Carlito's hideout and moving towards the main part of the mall. Is it just me? It's a bit worrying sweat.gif

64 player multiplayer? Yeah right. I don't think the number can even exceed 20 at one time for online multiplayer....

The white display rack thingy in Cletus' shop actually provides excellent cover from Cletus' shotgun. Just pick it up, walk towards the counter and set it down near him. Just wait behind it for him to finish shooting (usually 6 shots before he reloads) and then just whack him with your mini chainsaw. You don't even need to go behind the counter, you can hit him from the other side easily smile.gif

Firearms is the best way to kill the fat butcher. Either a machine gun or shotgun should do the trick. But I think mini chainsaw is quite effective, it'll kill him quickly enough before he can deal too much damage to you

Machine Gun - either the gun from the convicts' jeep, or get it from 1 of the 3 survivors that stationed themselves in the gun shop. Just exchange weapons with that person
