Not sure if you have already found it. At the Setting -> General settings -> Display -> Screen, you can select the colour temperature to 'cool' which makes the colur less yellow.

Just want to ask if anyone here have applied the screen protector from Xiaomi. There are two different pieces of SP, two came in the clear plastic and one came with the blue sticker. Since I cannot read the Chinese instruction, I do know which one to use or apply both???? What is the use of that piece of blue sticker??? Sifus here can help.

Thanks, I think you are right, the blue film is to pick up dust and dirt but I still cannot figure out what the other piece of screen is for! Wow, for RM10, you get so many extras.

Anyway, info for those who have not discovered it yet: long press the menu button (the one on the left) will bring up the task manager showing the list of apps running. Can close all apps by then pressing the clean-up button. The MI handbook says to long press the Home (middle) button for that but this will bring up the Google Now page instead.

I have the R icon too and it is next to the SIM card 2 signal so I think it is Restricted (2 G only) and not Roaming. Mine is the origin ROM 27.

This is what I think, could be wrong though. You need to set data usage the first time you use the phone as you may have already used some data when you set the phone since you may have passed your billing date. The phone will only track your data usage from the date you set it up so you need to tell it how much data you have already used since the billing date.

Rather quiet here so just to share some findings after playing with my Redmi, perhaps nothing new for some.
1. The battery will only reach its full capacity (i.e. last longer) after several cycles of charging and discharging, just like all new lithium batteies.
2. I find it easier to open the back cover by prying open right at the rounded corner nearest the notch and not at the notch itself.
3. Somehow I find there is more available RAM after I have removed the battery (and then replaced it); perhaps this is like a hardware reset. Not sure if it is just my phone.

This phone may not be for everybody, depending on your main usage and the features more important for you. But for a moderate, average user like me, I am more than happy with it though it does have its quirks. For RM419, I don't think there is a smartphone with more value for money out there, at least not at the moment.

Probably, but I doubt if it is noticeable. It will definitely benefit the seller with the high price of such a card. A normal class 4 SD card will be good enough for taking photos and videos. But since nowadays a class 10 SD card doesn't cost much more than a class 4 (based on prices of Kingston SD card I saw in Low Yat), might as well get a class 10 to make you feel better. Just my view.

It depends on what you mean by much more better since every phone has its pros and cons and you need to consider the specs that is more critical for you. The main differences is that the Zenfone 4 cost RM299 vs Remdi RM419 from what I know. For the extra $$ you get 4.7" IPS screen with 720x1280 resolution against 4" TFT screen with 480x800 resolution among other differences. Thus the Zenfone 4 will be smaller and lighter and battery will probably last longer so that is better if this area is important for you. There are other factors like wi-fi sensitivity, the camera usefulness, the UI, etc. The best is to try both the phones at a shop and see which one is better for your needs. If budget is a constraint, than the Zenfone 4 will be "better" since that is cheaper if you do not need the bigger and better screen plus all the bells and whistles of the Redmi. Just my view.

Based on the price, S1=RM419, Zen4.5=369 and Zen5=535 (ori set), the S1 is closer to Zen4.5 phone. Anyway, it doesn't matter, just buy the one you prefer and that best suits your needs and budget as everyone's requirement is different.

Not me but since I have my 1S for over 2 weeks now, just want to share my experience and personal views of this phone here. Mine is with Miui V27.0 out of the box and I am a light user and not a gamer. Most of the stuff here is not new and is meant for newbies so sifus here can skip or correct any mistakes.

Find the Miui very iPhonish, logical since Xiaomi is supposed to win over iPhone users. There is so much options and customisation that it is overwhelming for new users but good for those who want full control over the phone. There are 150 (or more?) themes available for download (including one Malaysian Theme that you can impress your friends) but I just use the default one.

There are many apps and utilities built-in which is convenient for newbies but to others, they used up too much resources. Luckily some can be uninstalled or disabled so you can use your own favourite apps. I find some of them pretty good, eg. In Data Usage (inside Security), you can prevent specific apps from using Data on the road if you are on a limited data plan based on the data usage statistics. In Explorer (file manager), it is very easy to choose the specific media to manage your files. In Browser, you can view text that can auto-fit the screen (horizontally) as you zoom in or out; don’t see this in other browsers like Chrome, Dolphin, Morzilla, etc (but I could be wrong).

I also have the issue of numbers appearing instead of names in some calls or messages. As pointed out elsewhere, this is due to the country code prefix that can be fixed by an app and this function is in one of the set-up pages. Heat issue? Never felt this, maybe because I am a light user and non-gamer. Battery draining fast? Yes, I suppose that’s how they can sell their spare battery, chargers and power bank; luckily they are reasonably priced. Clash of Clans? I can install and run this game (just for testing since many complaints in this thread) without any problems and it runs smooth in my trial. Of course, I did not play for very long but I can buy stuff and fight!

Rear Camera? Pretty good; fast autofocus and very responsive with some manual controls for those who need them. The Auto Mode also seems quite intelligent. Only cannot understand why the maximum picture size is only 6M while this is supposed to be an 8M camera! (Sifus, please help here.) Issue, cannot auto-save photos to SD card so have to manually move them. Did not try a third party camera app since it may not be as good as the default one.

Wi-fi? Quite sensitive, no problem so far, can connect wherever available. GPS? Indoor, forget it! Outdoor, connects in seconds. Some other likes:- long press button to close apps; scheduled Do Not Disturb so the phone sleeps while you sleep; has OTG function so can transfer files in a hurry without a PC; etc.

Well, the 1S is not perfect and many of the above functions are probably also available in other smartphones in this price range or in other apps but at RM419, it is a good buy if it meets your requirement and if you don’t mind the quirks. There’s always hope that future Miui versions will iron things out (and not introduce more problems like V29.) Just for sharing and my two cents!

Sorry, I didn't see the 8M setting since I did not scroll up and the 6M was at the top of the default Picture Size screen.

Is the SD card detected by the phone? Can check Settings->Storage->USB Storage to see if the SD card is mounted automatically (usually). If not, try manually mounting it. If cannot then could be file format issue as mentioned by xperiaVuser or 64GB size issue? If can mount, try using the built-in Explorer (file manager). Good luck.

Have you received your 1S? If it is still on V27, better stick with it first since based on the feedback here, many complaints on V29. I am on V27 and luckily did not upgrade to V29 since there were problems with it. I intend to upgrade to V31 later when global version is available and if feedback stays positive. Apart from the battery drain and some minor quirks, my experience with V27 and 1S is pretty OK (for the price) and find it stable. Just my view.

As I have not actually tried all three versions so cannot confirm but based on feedback in this thread, it seems V27 is bad, V29 is worse and V31 is better. Just bear in mind, the battery capacity is only 2,000mAH. Sifus here may want to add their comments.

The Xiaomi soft gel case fits the 1S like a glove. Good value for RM20.

The USB OTG worked on my phone. Try mounting it under USB Storage in Settings->Storage though it is normally mounted automatically.

If you have tested the OTG cable and thumb-drive with your fren's 1S and it worked means something is wrong with your set. Time to test the Xiaomi local aftersale service and tell us your experience! Good luck.

You can always use Explorer (or another file manager) to move your photos and videos to the SD card as and when required.

On my Windows 7 laptop, the connected Redmi 1S is shown as two devices - an optical drive and a Portable Media player (HMIS) that contains the Internal Storage and SD Card if you have installed one. The HM1S is where I transfer my files.
