yep. but wun it be troublesome to keep swapping?

It's a lot less of a hassle than using a powerbank tbh because it still takes awhile to recharge and you have to carry it around while it does its thing. The external charger removes the annoyance of double-charging (charging both batteries one after the other inside of your phone). I mean, I love my Xiaomi powerbanks (and my friends have ordered a few of them through me with a minor Nasi Ayam fee for the service tongue.gif ) but I'd rather not have to use them at all than to rely on them all the time. Swapping out the batteries would give me a full charge without waiting or carrying an extra fashion accessory around in my hands tongue.gif

I tried to root redmi 1s from here http://en.miui.com/thread-21881-1-1.html but it failed. My MIUI version is now marked as MIUI-JHCMIBE29.0.1

I tried to get back to the original rom from the OTA, Can anyone share me your update rom (MIUI-JHCMIBE29) fromĀ  folder "downloaded_rom"? TQ.
*
Are you on another ROM when you did the root steps in the link? From the link, it says Redmi 1S with stable MIUI ROM(JHCCNBD23.0/JHCCNBD24.0) is a requirement. Don't know if you can get OTA if it's marked differently now.

Like suntzulee said goto recovery and flash back the stable ROM.

Went to FedEx to collect my 1S. Been anticipating this phone despite been using Mi3 for 3weeks & pass on to my wife.

Need the dual sim for work SIM & Personal SIM at in one phone.

Just had fully charge the phone, install all necessary apps, got both SIM running & 32GB SD Card.

Checked the update, there is a stable version available. Gonna update before head back to bed.

yes it is a stable ROM which is not shown at the MI Forum...
i also looking ups and downs for the change log of this ROM...

For the extra battery, it is much less hassle to bring around a spare battery...
secondly is the external charger will give use an extra option to charge the dead battery inside our car or house or office anytime... so u will have unlimited flow of Battery Juice... thumbup.gif
bringing power bank to anywhere u go is more hassle as it is a extra bulky unit...

Was thinking to have the powerbank to charge the desktop charger with extra battery in document bag when on the go. Much easier than hogging on the phone with powerbank, right?

nothing much difference... or should i say i just open the unit got update already haha... still installing some apps to test out the performance...

the only thing i frus about is the available RAM running... it shows only ~25% available...
in Mi3 it is ~40% available... is the MIUI running so heavy behind the background or it is just their preloaded ROM is heavy???

compare to Asus Zenphone5 (~10 days old) which I handover to its new worthy owner just as I took my 1s...
i think overall package i will still buy Zenphone5 over this... although 1s is cheaper and got a removable/extra battery... reason behind is the UI Fluidity and the overall performance... i had not try intensively 1s yet but that is my single cents after a few hours with 1s...

compare to MotoG performance, which i use about 1+ months early this year...
i think overall package MotoG felt like perform better also... although both is same spec...
but again i think the MIUI is heavy running on 1G RAM while the MotoG is nearly Vanilla which gives the advantage...
but nothing to jump about as MotoG cost nearly RM250 more than 1s...

Redmi 1s certainly is not as fluid as Mi3 but the apps launching is slower, MotoG n Zen5 also do better in this area...
i will try out fully tomorrow about overall package...

but the extra battery is tempting, the Dual SIM is a definite attraction to most of the sales person out there...
Mi3 battery life also not bad, can last until about 7 hours of my usage at least...
lets hope that XiaoMi will launch something which lets more ppl jumpingon board... smile.gif
again BUT... for overall package I think I would still keep using my Mi3 as primary, mostly sell out this RedMi 1s to my fren which is waiting for me to release it...

Just checked the stable ROMs download and they just updated it not long ago from 24 to 29, skipping 27.

Does anyone know if there's a link to download MIUI-JHCMIBE29?

TQ for your review. Basically for me I'm purchasing this because it has dual sims using Mini Sim as I'm using company sim card which I prefer not to cut it into micro sim.

Anyway, I believe purchasing an extra battery is a good idea no matter if you prefer to use powerbank to charge the phone or just exchanging the battery because it can serves as a backup for the future in case you somehow encounter any problem with the battery i.e damaged or broken. Just my 2 cent.

Haha...same here, company SIM card is full size SIM Card.
This phone will definitely comes in handy when travelling overseas. I would normally buy a local sim card for internet & phone services.

While its extra battery is better option to charge it with Mi Power bank on its desktop charger while I still continue to use the phone freely without wire tangle.

The 1st thing that I noticed in the v29 update is that the ram management has improved. Previously my phone only left around 200-300 available ram, now it has improved to 300-380 available ram.

that is after you clear... but when i'm running things behind... it always stuck at 100~200 only...
after lunch maybe i'll review Asphalt8 on this phone... and also multitasking...
i wanna see how it allocate and also swapping the RAM when i run multitask...

android ram mgmt system is clever enough. they r putting more apps on idle in the ram for fast access when u need it. if u r running a memory extensive prog, the idle apps will be removed from ram to cater your needs.
free ram=wasted ram
