Guys, I just get charged RM50 for government service tax for my OCBC Ti card...is it possible to waive it off? I'm planning to cancel it as well.
Please advise

How long have you been using this card?

^ agree.

(Disclaimer: I’m NOT promoting and I don’t work for HLB and affiliates, just sharing my experience)
And also for those who can't spend 30k-40k on this card, but one can opt to switch for HLB Essential Card. When I wanted to cancel my card, they actually call back and willing to waive the GST (no swipe-3-times condition or anything but they did say I cannot cancel within a year, which is fine).

So they actually gave me the RM50 BEFORE my GST is due… roughly 2 weeks earlier (one day after I receive their call). And my usage for the past year? Less than 5k.

The downside is HLB Essential rebate excludes petrol. But you have better cards for that.
*
Not bad, this is the first time I ever heard of HLB waiving GST. Not to mention you only spent less than 5k on this card.

Heard need to spend rm30k.
With that amount, I'll use MBB + STUPID which I'm getting rm1590 of cash back.
*
Why your cash back will be RM1590?

RM12k spent on Wise = RM1200 cash back; remaining RM18k spent (Assume all spent on Amex during weekend )=RM900, not even included the 5x points.

MBB capped at rm50 per month, so only rm600.
STUPID is capped at rm1200, but AF and GST have to pay, so rm990 only.
So how do I able to get rm2100 like you said tongue.gif
Now, let's discuss more on the rm18000, don't take 100% can use AMEX, say 80%, so rm14400, that's 72000TP, with 50000TP, you can redeem rm220 gift card. So 1590+220=rm1810 thumbup.gif

If I still stick with OCBC, that's only rm300 of cashback I'm getting.
*
Oh ya, forgot about the capping, my bad. With that being said, OCBC is a great back up card.

See my above, then only think is it really good hmm.gif
I'm an ex OCBC card user also I cut it. No to discriminate this card, but with 1% of cash back, it is really not that good as primary or back up.
*
Come on, unlimited 1% is good for one large spending, low income ppl like me who can't apply plat/visa signature cards, or high spenders who have maxed out their cc rebate quotas, or shall I say back up for your back up card? brows.gif

I will say it depends. If I'm going to spend big(this year will be my flight tickets), I'll use AMEX thumbup.gif
So your logic fail for me whistling.gif
I'm the type of person that before spending rm1000, I already make rm5000. So if were to spend big on electric appliance(>rm2000), either I pay cash(can get more discount) or using AMEX(like in Desa HT allows)
*
One man's meat is another's poison, your brilliant logic is also won't for me sweat.gif But I have no regret since I started to save & earn extra $ when I am financially independent. flex.gif

i also didn't receive any SMS about the news. lucky my monthly expenditure on OCBC card don't go more than 1k normally, so still got 1%. Amex is still the way to go, 5x TP better than nothing.
*
After 1st May, 5x Tp is equivalent to 1.25% rebate.

Probably will do that. Rm5 per quarter sounds okay. So there's a cap of rm100 per quarter?
*
Just checked, yes RM100 per quarter provided if you have selected online category.

QUOTE(midnight_plue @ Apr 8 2015, 04:26 PM)
still untung another 0.25% mah tongue.gif
*
If you have Aeon Watami or SC Gold or Alliance Debit card, their rebate ranged from 2% to 3.4%.

QUOTE(ytan053 @ Apr 8 2015, 04:58 PM)

For hlb essential, cash bk only valid when have min 1 retail transaction at RM100,meaning nd to swipe one transc at RM100 at least to get rebate?
*
Nope. Just total monthly spending of at least RM100 to earn rebate, which is RM1. HLB won't give you rebate of a few cents. biggrin.gif

no round up like wise? lol...
*
Yes you still can play the round up game, but you are "qualified" after spending RM100, for example RM99 wont earn you RM1, while RM150 will earn you RM2. brows.gif

T&c is correct...

However the loophole is... I spent rm60, i got rm1 rebate... Hlb essential go by Round nearest ringgit. I did this unknowingly last year... I repeat after i found out. But the last time was probably  more than 6 months ago...
*
Really? You tried that? I spent more than RM100 then only play the round up game.

just remember 2 points:
1) not to pump at petrol station
2) min transaction(s) of rm100 per month

Or just spend over RM50 to get RM1 cashback brows.gif

my statement was RM60 before and got RM1 rebate from HLB essential. despite the t&c stated, i think hlb doesn't notice this loop hole. HLB pays by round nearest. so i usually adjust to spend around 150, 250, 350 per statement. which also means that either you spend 150 or 240, your rebate is still RM2.

plus AF for hlb essential is easily waivable. also hlb gave me GST rebate despite the preceding year, i only spent 6k++, almost 7k. those in ocbc thread complaining spedning 40k to get that RM50 gst rebate. tongue.gif

i agree ocbc > essential. but it's not that bad...
