Edifier Launches the S350DB Studio Series Speaker
Edifier Malaysia has invited us to experience their latest offering in their Studio series – the S350DB. The speaker packs a powerful 8-inch subwoofer for optimised movie and gaming experience, with sound quality that rivals even high-end 2.0 speakers. It also supports multiple audio input options to match our multi-gadget lifestyle.
So just how much is Edifier asking for their premium S1000DB Multimedia Speakers? Well the S1000DB is currently their flagship bookshelf model so it does feature a rather high price tag and do be more specific they currently retail for USD349.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 399.80Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de). The real question is whether or not the S1000DB is worth their money and the answer is a definite yes. The only problem for some people may be the light wood used which may not blend in with their TV sets or desks but other than that since build quality and audio clarity/accuracy/detail are near excellent and volume levels are very high the S1000DB are well worth our Platinum Award.

It was a happy day for me as a big fan of 2.1 speakers, as a brand new set of high-end 2.1 speakers was revealed – the Edifier S350DB. It was launched at Stars Picker Audio Cafe – which is also a heaven for audiophiles to experience top-notch audio products before making a purchase. Since it is a cafe, you can get some food and drinks while you enjoy too.

For RM199, the Edifier R1000T4 is a pretty hard decision to make, especially when Edifier has the Edifier XM6BT which sports a lot more features and great sound for just RM40 more. It does have the upper hand in terms of design, and will look right at home anywhere with its classic aesthetics, but it is definitely a difficult choice if you want to have Bluetooth connectivity to use it with your latest smartphone, or just need more low, deep bass for the current crop of music. I award the Edifier R1000T4 our Bronze Pokdeward.

Would I buy these? In a word yes. With many options out there it's always a tough pick so do your research try before you buy and see what you like but if you do end up with these as a decision I can't see many people suffering from buyer remorse. These are an incredibly well rounded pair of speakers and with the diverse range of functionality, practicality, sound quality and aesthetics you are in for a solid purchase.

The Edifier MP233 is one of the best Bluetooth speaker that I've ever used. Its features are speedy and work great, it sounds magnificent, and most importantly - it's inexpensive.

It’s difficult for me to express in words how the Edifier S350DB sound. For me it’s perfect with the amount of bass, crystal mids and effortless highs. I must reinstate that I am not sugar coating this review, but the speaker did extremely well and surpassed all my expectation in audio. Compared to the XM6BT, Edifier S350DB totally leaves it in the dust. If we were to pit it against the OPPO Sonica which I also had the opportunity to review, it doesn’t stand a chance at all in a big room against the Edifier S350DB.

Overall – 9/10, So to sum up my impressions, the R2000DB is a very appreciable improvement over the R1700BT and a strong performer in its price range. Whilst the price is considerably increased, Edifier definitely make the jump feel and sound worthwhile. The raw power, the feel of the housings and to a lesser extent, the feature set and inputs have all been remarkably improved. Versatility is also broadened to compliment similar improvements to the sound; now both more resolving and far more impactful. The R2000DB are definitely a speaker to watch in the $400 AUD price range.
