Hi,

I am a Sony Nex-5R user and would like to use intervalometer for time lapse photography.
However the tutorial from web does not have my model of circuit board.
I spent alot of time trying but still couldn't get it done.
Anyone can tell me how to identify which cable should go to where on the circuit board.
Deeply appreciated.

There are limitations on the apps.
Limit total snaps & no bulb mode.

If I were to need one, I would have ring the remote IR controller sw to be driven by a macro controller. IT is easy enough to program one to do almost anything. It is only a matter of elegance and power consumption issue.

However, putting the camera into sleep mode will be a different issue. That requires a bit more digging.

since you already got the hardware, you will need to know what equipment it was intended for. Next is the output of each pin.. Google them, I remember seeing something out there that shows most of the camera remote connections.

Next you need to know the chipset used in the Sony. How do the switch get driven.. pull high or low to activate.

Then all you need is built the interface to mate the signals.

If you are not familiar with electronics.. then you will need to do a lot of catching up.

Best of luck trying.. Not that impossible if you do your homework.

do your homework on the chipset use then.. it will hopefully shed some light.. If it is sequential data stream then you are in for long nights.. you will need a logic analyzer to capture its data bits.

There's an android app called timelapse-sony camera which lets you do it via wifi. It's pretty good and functions exactly like an intervalometer. The only downside it's a power hog on both camera and device.

I hope you have not given up.. Here is a link that will solve your problem ..

http://forum.mflenses.com/diy-timer-shutte...etc-t53598.html

it appear to be similar to the hardware you have at hand..

For owners of A6000 or those that have access to the micro USB wire type.. (cant remember its name) it is a different game and I have found the connectors too.. Just got myself one and have manually trigger it off the 5mm jack.. No hard modification is needed for your precious camera and everything is external. So to rig up an external wire to trigger the camera is not that difficult after all.

the chinese mfg has come up with the Sony modified USB.. and it it has a 3 contact 5mm plug.. so all you need is to short out all the 3 pins to focus and trigger! I bought the module with remote radio control trigger - for a fair price comped to ebay version (only cable).. I actually wanted the cable too to ring up the trigger for my Novoflex pistol grip which is great..

Now that it is really a piece of cake to hook up the system for external trigger, I can just write a short program for a microcontroller to do time lapse if necessary or lazy then will buy the time dealy remote, cut off the end and mate this two to work!
