Shifting from 1st to 5th without going through 2nd,3rd, and 4th.

That one you floor the pedal and never let off the accelerator while shifting N->1 and 1->2

Or less.

Also known, quite simply, as a J-turn.

And a car without a stick cannot short shift, regardless of the gearbox,

the principle is similar to heel-and-toe. the goal is to maintain higher rpm during shifts in order to minimize wear to the engine and gearbox, at the same time gaining more stability. example, downshifting 4th gear to 2nd at 80km/h, you need to raise your rpm to 5k or so to minimize excessive synchroniser wear. so what you should be doing is: 4th > clutch > N > release clutch > press the gas pedal to bring up the rpm > clutch > 2nd.

as i've mentioned, to reduce excessive wear and tear to your engine, gearbox and such. your method is okay as well just that it will stress your clutch more. normal road use should be fine but if you do that constantly during a race, your clutch might be gone before the race ended and replacing a clutch gonna cost the team a lot of time. worst, it's totally dead before you made it to the pit. then you're out.
