if they said what u did with cheap cables is ok, then ask them to come back n fix it!! tongue.gif

best u revert to original to make sure all is ok first. with modem and router in original place, connecting router to hypptv box with a long but right network cable should be ok. network cable can buy in any it shop.

i m not installer, better consult same or other installers/experts for further advise if necessary.
*
will check with other option first..if no option then will revert back to the original setup...the reason i relocate all the box was to prevent from my little daughter to play with the wires...internet connection seems no problem for now..only the hd content were a bit of problem.

A contract is a contract. So after signing, even if they cut prices for new users, nothing u can do until contract over.

When contract over, u can change ISP, negotiate, etc.

The way I see it, Unifi dun give 2 hoots whether a customer stay or leave, their style, we know.

If 12 months contract, I'm still fine with it. But 24 months, it sounds a bit fishy cause it kind of hint that TM is prepare to lower the price since our neighbouring countries are offering faster speed with cheaper price...

Actually its because they only make money for 24 month, 12 month rm 149 not enough to cover the cost of delivering you the service.

But sure, if you want to believe that the 2 year contract which has been in effect for 4 years or so already is because they plan to lower price soon, up to you =)

I believe majority wanted TM to lower the price... I'm only concern after take up the RM179 for VIP10, then TM announce a revise of price, then I'm stuck for the old price for the remaining contract period...

Anyway, I still need to wait until I'm back to the country only can call Unifi CS...

if u look at what's been happening in the last few years since unifi started, i'll say rm179 for vip10 is ok, locked 2 yrs. unlikely it'll get cheaper by much. dun forget this is mland, monopolies, cronies abound, need extra $ for abc, xyz, @#$. majority has no say, only elites with power...

i can tell u i paid rm199 for 3 yrs yet they never give me a hoot to lower price when others pay 179 or 169. but wat can u do except go to another isp which may suck so bad that u b**** everyday in lyn like in that ab%^& thread(s) n not have a life!

imo, if u pay 179 and make full use of 10mbps, save in other ways like xtro n tnb bill , it's not too costly. but if u r not making full use of it, better stay with 5mbps and keep to option to change isp anytime.

how many years u have been with tm? if more than 5 years, do u receive any benefit like they would upgrade your speed to 20mbps at no extra cost?

Does sustained downloads of volumes of data off a single host lead to throttling for that connection?

I need to know because I've been urgently downloading a crapton of Twitch streams (which are practically free) for mirroring to YouTube; the Unifi connection speed plummets from around 600 kb/s to baseline Streamyx speeds (about 10% of the full speed) to dial up speeds (<16 kb/s) after 2-6 hours of full-speed downloading from Twitch servers. The cap doesn't seem to affect other downloads from other hosts at the time when that cap occurs, so signs point to an intentional attempt to deter me from downloading from that particular host.

Singapore homes will soon get access to 2Gbps fibre broadband, the fastest residential Internet speed in the world.

The 2Gbps fibre broadband is undergoing limited trials with a select group of customers from now until the end of the year, "and will be commercially available in early 2015", said local fibre broadband operator ViewQwest yesterday.

Japan was the first and is the only country in the world to enjoy such speeds when Sony-owned company So-net introduced its Nuro 2Gbps fibre broadband plan last year.

"The key benefit of this new fibre broadband is getting more bandwidth to the overall household," The Straits Times Online quoted ViewQwest's head of marketing Wilbie Poh as saying.

"Households today are multiple-device households, with personal computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones.

the line here is miserable. Can't even stream proper video. Even on 8mbps, you got to restart the router till kingdom come to get a good set of IP range.

you need to have actual competition to even logically have lower prices ....

just cause another country is offering cheaper broadband, as long as they don't provide the service here then of course they won't reduce prices here ..... it's been this way for a long time now ....

i've been using 10mbps unifi for a long while now, and i'm more or less satisfied with the service. but i still think we a gouged by over paying for our service compared to most modern countries rolleyes.gif

actually i'm on 10mbps. i refuse to go 20mbps seeing as i don't use netflix so i don't need that capacity for 4k streaming. could however be useful for my twitch streaming i guess, but 10mbps has worked ok for me so far.

Hi guys.

I just install VIP10 last month. The problem i'm facing now is the wireless connection. Sometimes it show no internet access but my hypp tv and lan connection are doing fine. Is there any solution to this problem rather than change the router? Btw, my router model is TRG212M.

Thanks you.

Using vip10 in 2-storey house, modem router at downstairs living hall. Rooms upstairs get weak wifi signal, will those wifi range extender wall plugs help boost the signal upstairs? I do not intend to change the default unifi equipment yet.

I got a home plug and cheaper wireless access point. Settle the case. Sometimes wireless extended doesn't help
