guys, I just bought a 2nd hand flx 1.6se. it's a 2 yo car, mileage around 37k. I've sent for service, everything in good original condition. however my fuel consumption is very high, around 250km @ RM60. I drive in city, around 70-90km/h usually.
can anyone share how to improve the fc? is there anythg wrong with the car?
- When moving from standstill, allow the car to begin creeping before applying light throttle. This is to allow the clutch to close completely.
- When accelerating, apply just enough throttle and not more. Pay attention to the speedometer, not the engine sound.
- For casual and normal driving, keeping the RPM below 2k RPM is usually sufficient for most of the time for accelerations.
- If you have the budget and an android phone, buy an OBD2 scanner and get realtime fuel consumption figures on your phone. It is easier to learn to drive economically with it.
On another note, if you don't mind answering, how much did you pay for that car?
