Bought at juztshop webstore last saturday morning (2.04am worr) after reading a review from zenfone fb page. shipping yesterday, arrive around 11.00 am tadi. it got 8gb rom so i guess its a low-spec non-official asus malaysia la. at least all menus and booklet in english, not like my short-lived lenovo s820 (yes, i sometimes can be that nit-picky). what includes in the box (it's sealed with asus sticker actually) are earphone, 3-pin charger and usb cable. i already ordered a back cover but still not arrived, suddenly out of stock pulak.

First impression, dayum, its big compared to my puny sony ericsson w8 (nearly 3 years serving me, time to lay it down to rest). i already used to hold a 6-incher since my wife owns a lenovo a880 so no big deal there. Btw, i will explore all its features tonight la...today quite busy, office job menimbun sweat.gif

So yeah suntzulee, beam me up as a proud owner of a charcoal black ZF6 rclxm9.gif

ASUS should bundle at least cheap RM10 2800mAh powerbank instead of extra battery.

Do you mean the sound or the actual vibration? I'm not sure if there's a setting to make it vibrate while typing.
It's because of the battery (1170 mAh vs ~2000 mAh for other phones) and the corresponding design constraints. They couldn't put in a bigger battery without making this thing more expensive. If you want better battery life, the Zen 5 might be more of your thing. The Zen 4 is totally adequate in terms of functionality for its (low) price point. Or you can ask that guy who got 3h SOT what kind of setup he's running and what kind of apps he has. For my kind of usage (whatsapp/facebook/chrome with data and wifi), I couldn't replicate that kind of battery life. I'm not saying he's wrong or I'm right, I'm just saying that I have no idea how to make it last longer without totally sacrificing my usage needs.

Even after installing Swiftkey, no vibration upon typing... strangely odd feeling for an Android powered phone. Am scouring the web for a solution

Download and try dodol Keyboard. Highly customisable, with dedicated keys for numbers above the alphabets too. Oh, and of course to set the vibrate option when typing.

Eh did you try to adjust the ASUS Keyboard setting (to enable vibration) under Settings --> Language & Input?
There's an option to enable vibration but unsure whether will work while sms-ing.

Im not using the stock keyboard, using dodol instead, with vibration turned on during typing.

3.5-4.5h SOT according to sanderz. Not sure what other users are getting on theirs. I'm wondering if the discrepancy between mine and certain other Zen 4s' battery life is due to the fact that my phone is still on the default software version that I got with the phone. I haven't actually installed any updates yet because of the Umobile issues that I've been reading about in this thread and I've uninstalled pretty much everything but facebook and whatsapp but nothing has improved the battery life. 2h SOT is the max I can get on data/wifi. I know one of the updates is supposed to improve the battery life but I'm not sure if it's just for the Zen 5 or the 4 too. hmm.gif

Myself getting around 3.5 hours of SOT before dropping to a level I would start shutting off some functions, usually dipping to 15% of battery left.

SOT is a better judge than uptime for the ZF5, noticed it after a few cycles that ignoring uptime but focusing on SOT, I'm getting about the same "battery life" out of it.

here's a root method i found but it says for taiwan devices only, should work for those who bought ap set i guess, for zf5 and 6.i think it's directly google translated so i also abit headache reading their english.but most of the steps are quite clear, just to share the link:

Zenfone 5 rooting method(taiwan)

another i found is some battery consumption info for zenfone 5 i found from the asus zenfone blogspot:

-using wifi, bluetooth - average power consumption 1% every 6 minutes
-4 minutes per call consume 1%
-gaming consume 1% every 3 minutes(this depends on what games also la i suppose)

I bought 2 SPs (and got one free because I overpaid on shipping for two orders) from this guy here. It's very cheap and easy to apply. It only took me one try to get it on without any bubbles or problems. I ordered mine at 4pm and got everything at 10 the very next day. Very nice service thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

He also sells a sim card cutter if you're still using a mini-sim like me. It's a better deal than getting it cut at the store since you can charge other people to cut theirs and make money laugh.gif
