hi all sifu

just bought this stone from wah chan
https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=1245462431

no idealscope no aset image...

rm3250
price ok ma?
*
The specs are pretty decent. Enchanted Cut Score returns 97.2, while HCA is 1.3. So we can put this into consideration. At 35.5 degrees, the crown angle seems to stretch to the steeper side of things, but pairing with a 40.6 degree pavilion which is narrow, it should perform decently. There could be less light return, but you will be compensated with more fire. All other proportions checks out pretty well with those recommended online. At this price, I think it is quite fair, but press your luck a little and make it even lower. tongue.gif

If it is a loose stone, you may request to view the Hearts & Arrows using a H&A scope.

No idealscope nor ASET is normal. I did not come across anyone in Malaysia that carry those. Some may claim to have, so no harm asking again if you engage another jeweler.

All the best bro!

If you consider bluenile before, then you can consider the below alternatives (all of them sell Super Ideals), all of them ship to Malaysia. You will have to pay 6% GST.

Affiliate links:
WhiteFlash: https://www.whiteflash.com?a_aid=myengringexp (free delivery, AGS cert)
Brian Gavin: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/?a_aid=myengexp (no free delivery, but the diamonds are top-notch, AGS cert)

Non-affiliate link:
High Performance Diamond: http://highperformancediamonds.com/ (free delivery, AGS cert)
Jann Paul: http://www.jannpaul.com/ (not sure, but I think no free delivery, GIA cert)

As for setting a diamond, if you don't mind standard settings, I checked with shops like Diamond & Platinum/DeGem before (they belong to the same company anyway). Both of them will do setting for loose diamond. You can only choose selected designs though because certain designs are tied to certain diamond brands they carry, such as Estrella or Forevermark. Poh Kong and Tomei also will set loose stone as well.

The downside is that they probably won't be responsible if anything happened to your diamond during the setting process and the prices can be vary.

My advice is that if you find out the size of the wearer's finger, and then make it correct the first time. Subsequent resizing of the ring may affect the appearance of the ring more or less.

It is also advisable that that you make some effort to travel down south to KL/SG (Jann Paul) and get things done right. It is not a small purchase and whoever that receives it may feel touched for your effort.

However, if you manage to find any jewelers in Penang that can do customized ring setting, then feel free to share with us here. I am sure some of us will benefit from the info you share. Not all people stay in KL. wink.gif

Let me know if you need further help with choosing diamonds.

Thanks. biggrin.gif

Ask her girl friends to tipu her to go jewellery shop to test size. Probably can try PANDORA. Since it is common for girls to go into that shop. rclxms.gif

bb100 is correct. This  diamond is shallow,  but let's see the positive side of things since you already confirmed on this. It is pretty big on the table surface, making this diamond looks quite big from top down view, also, given the diamond is E VS1, it should look pretty colourless and eye-clean.

Congrats on your purchase! wink.gif

not so easy as gals r quite sensitive when guy bring them to jewelery shop regardless if its pandora n etc....

wat i did was i bring her directly to jewelery shop and try on the size.... now she know tat i'm goin to proposed to her... but she do not know when is the proposal... tat will be the surprise....

another way is quietly take a ring from gf accesories box and replicate the size.... sadly, my gf do not wear any rings.... not an option for me...

His reply to me:

Yes , we can do 18K diamond ring. Cost will depend on the design. Do drop into my shop to discuss if you would like to make.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for your long reply. Gave me a lot of options. By the way I thought jann paul is only available at sg? Didn't know that KL has jann paul too. It's too bad if the jewelry shop can't design a ring setting for me. Because I actually wanted to do a Harry Winston HW logo ring setting (maybe change the initial of HW). Wonder if there's any ring setting designer can make it. Even i saw some custom made ring website they can only choose from limited designs from them. Not sure where to find one to make for me. Hmm...

JannPaul is in Singapore. If you have the time, I strongly recommend you to make a trip down to Singapore and visit JannPaul. Not only they provide 3D models of your design, they also allow unlimited design changes. My setting went thru 7 rounds of changes over 4 months at absolutely no extra cost! 4 long months just to come up with a one-of-a-kind proposal ring for my SO. You can never get this kind of service in Malaysia, I am sure!

You wanna know the amount of visits I made to JannPaul during my ring designing process ahh? Zero. All design revisions, updates and whatnot are communicated thru e-mails and phone calls cuz they know sometimes the guy is "inconvenient" to personally go to the shop.

Ok I need to stop. Otherwise I will sound like a JannPaul promoter haha. Feel free to ask me any questions bro.

-add-

I saw that you are looking for loose diamonds too. Again, if you have time, try JannPaul. During your appointment, they will start with a 1-hr to 1.5-hr education session, from which you will learn the basics plus what to look out for in a good diamond. This is really an education session with no obligations. No money involved whatsoever.

Oops. Jann Paul is in SG only. Sorry for the unclear statement. Hmm... you can try the guy I replied to you earlier:

http://www.jonathanyunjewelry.com/

I am not sure about the price, but no harm going there and ask around. He seems to be pretty good based on this introduction. Bring your design, as well as an estimate carat size for him to provide you a quotation.

Like duckevo and bb100 suggested, you can go down to SG and try Jann Paul. Before go, perhaps you can message them via the FB page first. Let them know what you are looking for and see if they manage to filter out anything for you to choose or not. Once you really sure that Jann Paul is the go-to jeweler, then only you make your trip down to SG, if you prefer to deal face-to-face, else, I think mail order a loose diamond is relatively safe. Choice is up to you, but word of advice is give yourself ample time.

Bros and sis. I'm interested in getting engagement ring Not from the mainstream shops. May I ask how it works if let's say I wanna get from whiteflash.com and setting by ido? First I wait the diamond to be delivered then contact ido for setting? And how safe is purchasing diamonds online. Tq!

Hey guys.

Can someone advice me on where to find a shop which customize a engagement ring? My mom passed down a diamond ring for my future wife and I would like to customize the setting for it. I have zero knowledge on this.

Do helppppp
