Budget RM4500, below possible? or wat's your recommendation for an i7 rig? hmm.gif
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K
MOBO: ASrock Z87 extreme4
RAM : Gskill AEGIS 8gb ddr3 1600Mhz
HDD: WD 1TB Cavair Blue HDD
GPU: Leadtek GTX770 2GB DDR5
ODD: Liteon 24x Sata DVDRW
Cooler: Corsair Hydro H75 Liquid Cooling
PSU: FSP Raider 650W
SSD: Plextor M5S 128GB SSD
Chasis: Corsair Carbide 300R
*
Up ure budget to 6k.

get a 4770k, Asus Z97 Ranger, Zotac Reference GTX780 (Or look for some in garage thread) , Corsair RM 650, Corsair h105i, Samsung 840 Evo 250gb, WD Black 1tb, 16gb 1866 Corsair Vengeance Pro Rams, NZXT 440

Ure good for something time.

GTX770 is a GTX680 refresh with higher clocks paired with higher mem.
2400mhz is the sweet spot for noob OC on more haswells. Y because the read to read timings still tight on the Intergrated Mem Controller. Above this u need skill and good mobo and actually it can go up to 2666mhz. A lot of reviewers out there who did the mem comparison are idiots who dont know how to clock memory or understand how ram timings work. Asus before sham left and with coolice still there have all the custom skews for ram chips etc.. so meaning a 2400 C10.. i can push it to 2600-2666mhz with some learning. 16gb is the way to go now on gaming and theres so many games that eat 8gb already.

Mobo. Ranger has supreme FX. Although i would also recommend a dedicated sound card but if must go for this. Gaygay is also nice but as i have said before their distro u might as well show middle finger to them all year and for the rest of ure life cause they are showing that to all consumers.
We malaysians lucked out on that.

Overclocking requires good PSU. And a good looking one at that. Hence corsair. Seasonic distros has change many for the past decade and again their focus is always one OEM. In the past OEM makers always will just cut their whole consumer product when stiff competition rises or they just feel its not profitable anymore. Those of us who has been buying hardware components for last two decade or in my case last 15 years can attest to this.

SSD. With the evolving Samsung TLC chips.. evo is a great buy for those who are budget issue. U get 250gb which i totally recommend as the minimum ( cause ure gonna use this as ure OS/Gaming and work space). 1tb Blacks are awesome for 24/7 run ( disable any windows HDD sleep mode) but ure gonna need a good casing with airflow ( corsair 550D.. seriously dust free and less maintenance ) ( eventhough i hate non alu casings but if i had to it would corsair Obsidian series or NZXT 440)

And if ure gonna spend 4.5k might as well make it look good and last for a while. GTX780 is good up to 2560x1080p easy. so u have 33% more headroom on a 1080p. GTX770 is a refresh GTX680 with higher mem clock. The 2gb on it is not enough.

From all the people i know they will spend 4.5k now regret and keep upgrading and will end up more than 6k. It was a never ending spending here and there and with full of regrets etc. Onother thing spend one time on a good casing, cpu cooler and PSU. this will last u a long time.

y? cause they skimmed on certain parts etc and in the end it looks like crap.
Up it to 6k n u got a high end great looking and great performing system that u would actually feel and know its worth it.

QUOTE(DarkNite @ May 13 2014, 04:09 PM)
i7 4770K OC's sweet spot is how many GHz?
*
4.2ghz, above this wont make much difference on gaming. Encoding however every multiplier counts.

Is shifting to Z97 boards worth it?

No.

Not for now but might as well. Cause any bugs on design on lower end boards ( Ahem maximus Hero ) etc
its been fixed or should have been fixed.

Lol. I got multiple buddies with 15-25k builds. All mostly for looks and branding. To be honest, anything more than 2 GPUs is a joke. So is buying overpriced Mobos and RAM.
*
whats so difficult on 15k is normal and 25k is easy if WC.

4770k - 1k
M6e - 1.8k (2.8k)
Ax1200 - 1.2k (4k)
Neutron 240gb GTX traid 0 - 1.5k (5.5k)
TJ11 - 1.8k (7.3k)
WD Black 4tb - 0.8k
WD Black 2tb - 0.4k
WD Black 1tb x 2 - 0.5k (9k)
16gb 2400 C9 - 1k (10k)

Thats without GCs say sli Titan Blacks or 780ti Matrix or 780ti KingPin so around - 6.2-7k

Watercool this whole rig uberly around 7k

Monitor say Dell Dell U3414WM - 5k ,U2713H - 3k , U2713HM - 2k, U2913WM - 1.7k

Speakers Edifier S730 - 1k

Keyboard, Mouse, Soundcard etc..

This not even extreme proc or 64gb 2400mhz rams with X79 R4EB

btw ram disk are a bad idea.
we normally set it as a junction to always backup in a hdd.

but once in a while forgot or hdd/ssd a bit slow on the backup and u forgot and shutdown..

tested last time on friends 64gb 2400mhz. we were trying to speed up encoding etc. Imagine we lost a huge chunk of a HEVC encode of his work.
He was doing 4k editing for a wedding shoot. 8 hours of work gone..

PCIE bandwidth is much bigger so just wait for thunderbolt 2 controllers...

yea, true... but I dont wanna play at low graphics mah.. its like playing FFXIII in Maplestory graphics == I dont want that

I would build this.
Czone Pricing. U most probably can get cheaper. And Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclocked-Du...s=evga+gtx780ti

4790k - 1079
Thermalright Venomous X Black +Corsair SP120x2 = 299+145 = 344
Maximus VII Gene - 799
Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400 C10 2x8gb - RM1099
EVGA 780ti Superclocked Reference Cooler - USD669 + Expedited Shipping etc = RM2618.35
WD Green 4tb - RM525 (U cannot run Blacks in this casing. Its requires active cooling)
Corsair Neutron GTX240gb X2 Raid 0= 759x2=1518 (err price drop.. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif )
Corsair AXi760 + Corsair Indivudually Sleeved Red - RM679 + 335 + 110=1123
Silverstone FT03+ Corsair AF120 x 3 = 569+99x3 = 766

RM9871.35. Uber rig.

CPU OC.
Should be able to clock up to 4.4ghz or more if rumours are true..(hint hoping 4.8ghz.) ( prep incase another 1-2k to buy 2 more procs to find a good one. and make a lost like 250-300 on each)
GPU OC
780ti with Skyn3t bios.. should be able to do 1150mhz-1200mhz. u can push it more to 340-350 watts on the card in this casing with the fan config i mentioned but only one card and u can forget sli with the limited PSU. Future SLI on heavy OC u may want to look in maybe a Asus m7 Hero with Silverstone FT02 with a AX860 min.
GAMING
Gaming up to 1440. on most settings maxed out on most games on good AA settings. But with the overclock u can nudge geforce optimal setting by 1-2 depending on the game.
And u can carry this anywhere and sli the card. Reference models on that in the future will be hard as other than evga all other manufacturers stop producing reference as the cost of the cooler is very expensive.
RAMS
Ram settings. On auto should be fine but if u want 1t, tighter RTLs and consistent performance to get value on buying a ROG mobo.. can teach ya if u bring to asus lan party.
FAN
btw i am not sure about those fans being pwm controllable. but they should be and u can control it via the mobo. actually i'd prefer noiseblockers but shipping them here.. u will get taxed.
DVD/Blu-Ray
DVD.. err ppl still use these.??. high speed internet and steam/origin.
24/7 and I dare chop this as Stable Build.
u can leave this rig on 24/7 no issue. with good c-states fan settings.. ure cpu will be on low power, and cool and silent.
Recommendation
Also recommend considering Zotac GTX TItan Black rather than the 780ti. for more uber MSAA settings and u most probably can buy them in the future for sli in reference cooler rather than 780tis.

Gambate.
Uber rig yo

He wanted overclocking
Didnt know he stated a budget.

Dude i do overclocks on seriously pure performance rig.
Not semi stable or crap etc..

Rigs that will seriously last on a 24/7 basis. Heck i dare even to chop them and give warranty and guarantees if i build them. Doubt any other system builders here would. Will push it to the last voltage on no air cond enviroment.

This is what u need and this is what it cost.
Any other than this. Will try to be in the asus lan event. Ppl can bring me their rigs.. let me bsod it.

telling the rig above can do it.
it will kick ass alot of wc rig here also.

Chill bro, take a look again, he just want to play his online game, not super hardcore OC... sweat.gif
*
Lol why not. Its not hardcore oc. Is overclocking done right. He decided the two components. He wanted to clock it. To make sure theres no limitation on other components n pushinh out every mhz. Thats what u need.

Above this is wc. Wc to oc budget atleast 5-6k on a single gpu. Thats would be enthusiast oc. Wc also has to be done right for clocking n u can make it even silent or better yet even passive. Depends on budget.

Running phase would be hardcore oc.

Funny u would think this is hardcore. This is a balanced system.

The difference with 15 years ago n now. We dont need delta fans anymore..

err... i couldnt find any game recommendation thread in game gamer's hideout section.... i wanna try some games (to see how good is my gpu) any recommendation?
*
Max Payne 3, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution, Thief, Crysis 3, Metro Last Light, Battlefield 4, Bioshock Infinite, Company of heroes 2, Batman Arkham Origin, Dishonored brigmore witches, Grid 2, ...

Try this. I assume ures is a overclocked version or u can push it futher.
let Geforce experience optimize ure game setting, u can customize it here and push the bar a big more if oced. Take note normally the next jump u require atleast a 15-20% OC to make it smooth. Mostly.

Those games above basically really shows how crappy console are...

Tomb Raider is awesome. But seriously heavy. On Nvidia try FXAA. U normally wont get hit as much but con is those far straight lines a bit blury but straight.. Hitman on certain scenes u would just like to stare at it. Its that beautiful.

Try some games with physx. like batman.

Also u can do this. If AA setting is the pitfall for ure gc but u hate those edgy stuff.. try downsampling.

enjoy ure card dude..

last time when i owned lappy i oni play hon as limited hardware.
i like alot of games (not mmorpg anymore... tired of leveling...)
prefer games like rakion and some fps+awesome things like titanfall(have to pay though...)
like devil may cry type of game...
ah crysis3! i go find jack sparrow first tongue.gif

got any online multiplayer games (smth like titanfall) which is free and quite not bad graphic?
watched the review of metro, not my liking tongue.gif
er.... battlefield 4 is multiplayer?
err... too much theory, cant really get u  blush.gif
*
my fault . forgot this is lyn.

Titan Fall graphics is SO SO.

Try tomb rader for single play and hitman absolution and max payne 3 ( just the cuscenes are very lengthy) ....U will love it. Especially tomb raider. U'd be like wtf.. graphic this good.. fark consoles..and err. Crysis 3. Yeah graphic is nice etc.. but overall gameplay kindda boring actually.

and try BF4 for multiplayer...

Ure main limitation on gtx760 to higher gc is AA capability and tessalation.

1. Install game
Run game
quit Game
2. See nvidia icon at notification area
3. Right Click it and click geforce experience
Scan the games on ure comp
Optimize each game. Let nvidia do it for u.

Play.

Hi guys can you give me the cost of building full rig with tri monitor and 4 gtx titan black?
*
me likey u. Based on Czone pricing. Most probably can get cheaper. Look for bill in cycom

14-15k on gpu,
CPu+Mobo around 3.5-4k
PSU around 1.5k ( Assuming corsair AXi1500watts)
Casing (1-2.5k) (900d, - caselab) or ft02 will actually do if ure doing aircooling (RM799)
Rams ( 32gb. get atleast 1866 to 2400mhz.. so 1.2k-2k)
SSD (240gb min raid 0 to 500gb raid 0 ) (RM1.5k-3k)
HDD ( 4tb .. min 1 so rm799. WD Black 4tb)

thats about it
so
min is 14+3.5+1.5+0.8+1.2+1.5+0.8= 23.3k
max = 28.8k

all this without cooling yet.
So cooling at this point RM400-500 for cpu only to 7-8k for whole setup on WC or 3-4k phase change on cpu and 6-7k on GPU.

gambate.

go for it.

if ure going to overclock the gpu also.. then get a 1500Axi +860Axi

two titan blacks would do.
take it as one titan black can handle 2560x1440p. easy
so say 24 i am assuming here it is 1920x1200 dell ultrasharps so x3/2560x1440 = 1.7times so two is more than enough dude.

reason y i thought u were going for 3x2560x1440 than i will tri-quad sli a titan (extra titan for more AA setting)
and overclocking it to go uber AA.

Yup.
And that a z87/z97 4770k/4790k would do.

the x79 cpu is actually a waste in gaming and people only use that proc when they are intending to tri-sli. just the pcielanes etc..
but the 6 core is actually wasted because each core single thread is slower than a 4770k. even with its huge quad rate mem.. because of the
interegrated IMC etc on 4770k. the internal latencies are faster with AVX2 etc... its beating it only with the extra two cores. 4 on 4.. sandy-e/ivy-e surrenders..

Hi sifus,

How much "real" difference will I be able to see with a Zotac GTX780 Ti Amp! with a "standard" GTX780 card? I'm seeing some replies here saying the standard GTX780 going as low as RM1670 which is so much cheaper than the Ti Amp! version which is around RM2300 (savings can go to a better processor). From xbitlabs it seems to be about ~5FPS difference on the few games they tested.

I'm not sure if the Ti Amp will fare better with newer "next gen" games or the performance increase is negligible. Maybe you can advice to spare me any potential regrets with skimping on the card now  hmm.gif

user posted image

Also @Zgames I've modified your recommended build slightly based on Logical Increments Guide for a "balanced" build (others who are looking to build a PC, check this out too, the site is really helpful)

Proc - i5-4460 i5-4690 or i7-4790
Mobo - ASrock H97 Pro4 ASrock H97m Pro4 (I want to fit this inside a Micro ATX)
RAM - 8GB Value RAM
PSU - Seasonic S12II 620w
GPU - Zotac GTX 780 Ti AMP! or "standard" GTX 780
HDD & SSD - recycle
Casing - maybe bitfenix or fractal design 1000

To recap, I want a gaming rig (only) that will allow me to max out graphics and as future-proof as possible within a RM4k budget +-

Any critique / comment to help me fine tune and finalize my build is very much appreciated!  biggrin.gif

make it simple for u
U need a cpu powerful enough to show the capability of the gpu.
and a i/o that can also feed the gpu.

hence its a balance. if not u will be one sided in certain games and find ure system sluggish in the other.
Ram speeds/platform haswell/ivy-e etc../GPu nvidia/ati tends to have pros and cons.

Afaik amds are more cpu dependent that nvidia in most games.

hence always start with what resolution u want to game at.
