Budget RM4500, below possible? or wat's your recommendation for an i7 rig?
Up ure budget to 6k.| CPU: | Intel Core i7 4770K |
| MOBO: | ASrock Z87 extreme4 |
| RAM : | Gskill AEGIS 8gb ddr3 1600Mhz |
| HDD: | WD 1TB Cavair Blue HDD |
| GPU: | Leadtek GTX770 2GB DDR5 |
| ODD: | Liteon 24x Sata DVDRW |
| Cooler: | Corsair Hydro H75 Liquid Cooling |
| PSU: | FSP Raider 650W |
| SSD: | Plextor M5S 128GB SSD |
| Chasis: | Corsair Carbide 300R |
get a 4770k, Asus Z97 Ranger, Zotac Reference GTX780 (Or look for some in garage thread) , Corsair RM 650, Corsair h105i, Samsung 840 Evo 250gb, WD Black 1tb, 16gb 1866 Corsair Vengeance Pro Rams, NZXT 440
Ure good for something time.
GTX770 is a GTX680 refresh with higher clocks paired with higher mem.
2400mhz is the sweet spot for noob OC on more haswells. Y because the read to read timings still tight on the Intergrated Mem Controller. Above this u need skill and good mobo and actually it can go up to 2666mhz. A lot of reviewers out there who did the mem comparison are idiots who dont know how to clock memory or understand how ram timings work. Asus before sham left and with coolice still there have all the custom skews for ram chips etc.. so meaning a 2400 C10.. i can push it to 2600-2666mhz with some learning. 16gb is the way to go now on gaming and theres so many games that eat 8gb already.
Mobo. Ranger has supreme FX. Although i would also recommend a dedicated sound card but if must go for this. Gaygay is also nice but as i have said before their distro u might as well show middle finger to them all year and for the rest of ure life cause they are showing that to all consumers.
We malaysians lucked out on that.
Overclocking requires good PSU. And a good looking one at that. Hence corsair. Seasonic distros has change many for the past decade and again their focus is always one OEM. In the past OEM makers always will just cut their whole consumer product when stiff competition rises or they just feel its not profitable anymore. Those of us who has been buying hardware components for last two decade or in my case last 15 years can attest to this.
SSD. With the evolving Samsung TLC chips.. evo is a great buy for those who are budget issue. U get 250gb which i totally recommend as the minimum ( cause ure gonna use this as ure OS/Gaming and work space). 1tb Blacks are awesome for 24/7 run ( disable any windows HDD sleep mode) but ure gonna need a good casing with airflow ( corsair 550D.. seriously dust free and less maintenance ) ( eventhough i hate non alu casings but if i had to it would corsair Obsidian series or NZXT 440)
And if ure gonna spend 4.5k might as well make it look good and last for a while. GTX780 is good up to 2560x1080p easy. so u have 33% more headroom on a 1080p. GTX770 is a refresh GTX680 with higher mem clock. The 2gb on it is not enough.
From all the people i know they will spend 4.5k now regret and keep upgrading and will end up more than 6k. It was a never ending spending here and there and with full of regrets etc. Onother thing spend one time on a good casing, cpu cooler and PSU. this will last u a long time.
y? cause they skimmed on certain parts etc and in the end it looks like crap.
Up it to 6k n u got a high end great looking and great performing system that u would actually feel and know its worth it.

4.2ghz, above this wont make much difference on gaming. Encoding however every multiplier counts. This post has been edited by cstkl1: May 13 2014, 09:52 PM
