QUOTE(RoyRF @ May 22 2014, 03:01 PM) Hello guys, For a RM1000 budget, it's either R9 280 or GTX 760. Both cards are on par and will perform close to one another (depending on games). I'm looking for a good gpu upgrade and my budget is below 1k. Personally i prefer radeon over nvidia cos it's cheaper and quite reliable based on my past experience. i shortlisted a few options as below:- 1. Sapphire R9 280X 2. MSI Twin Frozr R9 280 oc 3. Leadtek GTX760 oc 4. Sapphire R9 280 oc 5. Sapphire HD7950 oc i'm open to any other suggestions besides the above. Cheers! Your budget gets you either Sapphire R9 280 OC or Leadtek GTX 760 OC. However, I've heard that the Dual-X fan on the Sapphire 280 isn't really good, so you might want to consider the MSI version instead (RM979). |

Yes, I mean the MSI 280, which retails at around RM979 (lingloong). Strangely, it is cheaper than the Sapphire Dual-X (RM1015). Which version of the Dual-X are you using now? |

QUOTE(RoyRF @ May 22 2014, 05:04 PM) now using hd7850 oc..also taken from lingloong You feel some games lag already? If not, I suggest just sticking with your HD 7850. It isn't a very big jump from HD 7850 to R9 280 / GTX 760. from your opinion, should i upgrade now or it's better for me to stick to current gpu as the graphic performance is only minimal improvement to what i'm using.. Go for at least R9 280X / R9 290 in your next jump. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Guys, any good AM3/AM3+ board below RM 200 that you guys can recommend. I got my eyes on a used X3 455 at Garage Sales. Need a mobo that's good in OC to it. Just a basic OC not that much to push it.

QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ May 21 2014, 10:49 PM) Change the GPU to Gainward GTX770 Phantom @RM1125 and please upgrade the RAM to the Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 1600Mhz @ RM255. Thanks for the suggestions @TheHitman47 and @Sentinel92 !And follow TheHitman47's suggestion to upgrade to the newer haswell refresh chip. Updated build as below: Processor : Core i5-4460 = RM599 Motherboard : ASRock B85 Killer = RM299 Graphic Card : MSI N770 TF 2GD5/OC (GeForce GTX 770 GAMING) = RM1235 RAM : HyperX Fury White/Black/Red/Blue — 8GB 1600Mhz Single= RM255 HDD : 1TB WD Caviar Blue 3.5" SATA = RM193 SSD : Corsair Force Series™ LS 128GB SATA 3 6Gb/s SSD = RM279 Power Supply : M12II-620 Watt Power Supply = RM359 Casing : Carbide Series® SPEC-03 White LED Mid-Tower Gaming Case = RM215 Total = RM 3434 Is there any major difference between MSI GTX770 TF and Gainward GTX770 Phantom besides the price factor? Also, is 620W enough power supply for me? Used the online calculator and it gave me around 500W (not sure if I am using it correctly Thanks again!! |

Hi folks! Looking to build a new all-purpose rig that will be used primarily as my main computer for gaming/surfing/watching movies.
Current Rig CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93GHz MOBO: Gigabyte EP43T-UD3L GPU: ATI Asus EAH5750 (1GB) Ram: 8GB [Budget] RM1000 [Hardwares that will be re-use] Reusing RAM (I have 16gb of spare ram sticks), monitors, hard drives and DVD drive [Games & softwares that use frequently] Random MMOs (WoW, Aion, MMO-flavour of the month [Personal preferences] As budget is a bit of a problem, I plan on reusing as many of the peripherals as I can while attempting to get a PC that will hopefully last me for the next 2-3 years with minimal upgrades. After asking around, friends have told me that I can get by with upgrading just the mobo/cpu/gpu as well as a new casing and power supply if budget permits. Hoping to get some advice from all the knowledgeable and experienced folks here |
