1) Why do people recommend Asrock motherboard over ASUS (I am seeing b85 Pro Gamer for performance + value)
2) I am leaning towards nvidia too. Is it worth the squeeze @ RM 150+ for gtx 760 OC vs the normal
3) DDR 3 1600 vs 1866, does it make a difference in gaming?

Light usage, mainly for downloading stuff and light gaming like DotA, Sims, etc but if good graphic, I might explore to the slightly heavy gaming world

I'm a bit sceptical of using only 1 HDD, concern of OS corrupt and corrupt HDD as well but I think that's the best option for now. Any particular reason of mobo not Asrock H97M Pro4 ? I see it is slightly cheaper and SATA slot on the side easier for cable management.

feel like should have go with i5-4690 then maybe a H97 motherboard that with intel LAN. Then can go with 2400mhz ram... even casing I also feel kind of lack the airflow design. Top got no ventilation ...

Man that i7 imo is overpriced. You could've gotten a xeon if want future proof.

But xeon ... not all board support, since it's for server. The bios of the board need to support xeon only able to use it. Isn't it?
Hmm... i not sure, been using it for few weeks , on gaming+streaming also did not hear it. I put it beside my desk. Never heard the fan sound.
idle around 40'c , when doing task around 51'c , have not seen it gone higher than 51'c currently.

No la dude, it's a "heavy-task" processor by my books. Capable of running 24/7 and having so many threads/core, good for rendering 3D and it's supported by all 1150 board lor. It is a 1150 socket processor why can't it support?

Oops... sorry, when I said CPU, i meant the entire CPU tower.. the "rig" itself. As far as recycling the rig parts, I can only recycle the SSD from the laptop (it is a Crucial M4 128 GB, I think should be compatible with the new rig?)

Going straight for the Blacks because can't be bothered to move my Steam / Origin library around. 40GB to OS would leave me with 80GB , which is already less than the size of my downloaded library. (Or even Titanfall + BF4)
