1TB Western Digital Blue
430W Corsair CX430
Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0
btw what's Kaveri?

With the budget that you've,it's better to go for CPU + GPU. wink.gif

Have Austin Evans mentioned anything about what's Kaveri? tongue.gif

Kaveri is the codename for the new APUs released by AMD using the Steamroller micro-architecture. nod.gif FYI.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steamroller_(microarchitecture)

@Minecrafter

Hey, if I were to get AMD fx-8320 with mobo (4+1) phase count vrm, it will still not work properly? I don't, won't overclock. Just wonder if for example I run it at stock 3.5 ghz, it will still throttle the CPU?
If I want it to run at full capabilities at the stock frequency 3.5ghz, isn't mobo with  4+1 vrms is enough?

Also, what about fx-6300, does it require higher phase count as well? Since it is 6-core.

Guide me, lack of knowledge in pc stuff. lol
*
My knowledge about AMD FX CPUs and their motherboard isn't that deep. tongue.gif
hmm.gif Maybe 6+2 for FX6300. hmm.gif Not sure TBH.But still,if u go for FX6300,i5 beats it. wink.gif

For the bold part... not really.  A 4+1 power phase setup is simply insufficient for the 8 core FX CPU, as it doesn't have the ability to provide enough power to the CPU without throttling.  An 8+2 power phase setup would be much better for that. icon_idea.gif

The FX-8320/8350 chips are known to exceed their rated 125W TDP, as outlined by lex here:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Now, about the FX-6300 part...  You can pair that CPU to most budget boards... just beware with some very cheap boards with an even weaker 3 phase power VRM (not designed for FX chips).  Try to avoid MSI AMD boards as they are notorious for having very poorly designed VRMs. icon_idea.gif
Remember to do some research before buying... brows.gif

Note that more cores =! better gaming performance.
It's all about single-threaded performance, and this is where the i5 shines.

Not to mention the FX-8320/8350 requires a motherboard with very robust VRMs, which means only high-end boards would be able to support the CPU without throttling the CPU or blowing up the VRMs.

Eventually the cost involved is going to be higher than some Intel equivalents.

This is what happens if you try to pair a cheap board with a high-end AMD CPU:

Kingston 1x4GB Value RAM-RM130
WD Blue 1TB-RM189
Palit GTX750 StormX-RM420 (GBros @ Garage Sales)
