Actually my dream is to set up a rig with 8 RAM slots and fill in all slots with 8GB (or DDR4 should be higher).

64GB (or more) of RAM
such memory
many channel
much bandwidth
very fast
so RAMdisk

wow

You crazy.
So overkill.
Much money.
Wow.

Hahaha on a serious note, that thing is gonna be so expensive it'll make high GPUs look like a joke.

Apart from the SWAG factor, you get to humiliate SSD and put HDD into oblivion, it is well worth every pennies. brows.gif
Not to mention the chance and time for it to become obsolete by successors are probably much lower (time longer) than SSD.

btw ram disk are a bad idea.
we normally set it as a junction to always backup in a hdd.

but once in a while forgot or hdd/ssd a bit slow on the backup and u forgot and shutdown..

tested last time on friends 64gb 2400mhz. we were trying to speed up encoding etc. Imagine we lost a huge chunk of a HEVC encode of his work.
He was doing 4k editing for a wedding shoot. 8 hours of work gone..

PCIE bandwidth is much bigger so just wait for thunderbolt 2 controllers...

gtx 660 should be within that range, has a bit more performance than the 750ti

I shall look into that. rclxms.gif

Quite good. We've been recommending the GTX 760 Phantom. Then out of stock for most sellers....now it's back. WARM IT UP YA RASCALS.
PS and yea for RM 600 the Gainward GTX 660 Golden Sample is right for you...forgot how it cost tho. But I think it's below RM 650.

Jetstream will win over ref. gainward.
If it's jetstream vs phantom maybe on par.

Hi guys !

Since Microsoft has ended support for XP, wanted to get a new rig for my parents.
Need some suggestions.

Budget: ~RM1000
Purposed: Light surfing, occasional scanning/word processing/printing
Hardwares that will be re-use: Maybe two HDD but planning to get a new one for fresh install (SSD?)
Monitor resolution: Forgot, but got cheap LCD monitor
Games & softwares that use frequently: Google chrome, MS Word
Personal preferences: Don't need GC can right ? Need optical drive.
Location: Can go to Lowyat

You can actually consider Intel NUC, nice AIO package for light computing.

And I don't think you can get genuine Windows OS together with SSD within that budget.

This is a rough estimation for the cost needed.
CPU - 180
Mobo - 180
RAM - 130
DVD - 60
Cheap CASE + PSU - 100+
OS - 180+ (windows 7 starter, better get at least home)
SSD - 280+

Minimum total = 1110

Optional:
wireless card - 12+

I assume you are asking 295x2 vs 780x2?

295 should be similar or on par with 290x and 780TI.

And since 780TI > 780, no doubt 295x2 > 780x2 > 780
