what if comparing medium or even high-end AIO kit vs air cooler in terms of performance/price ? I doesn't care about how loud will the fan be.

I personally kind of prefer AIO kit because it cover the whole processor so there is no space between processor that allow dust to go in.
*
High end air cooler like Noctua D15 can easily comparable to pretty much all AIO.

In terms of price/performance, I believe a decent air cooler is still better. The monstrous Noctua NH-D15 for example, can easily win even the high end Corsair H100i and CM Nepton 140XL, you can see the review here.

The only reason I would go for AIO is due to the clean and minimalistic layout, I don't personally favor big air coolers anyway. tongue.gif

I see. So in terms of performance high end air cooler > high end AIO , right? Just the difficulty is the cleaning process ? ok. Get it now.

it will create stress for motherboard because it's almost hanging on the motherboard?

In a way, yes you're right. But, they may surpass those high end air cooler, though the fans would have to run at basically maximum settings in order to do so, resulting in a very noisy experience. AIO kits are also often dependent on casing airflow, if you have good airflow, the temps may lower slightly.

Cleaning 240mm radiators can be a mess as well. biggrin.gif

thanks for the clarification, now I understand the differences. Guess I will just stick back to AIO cooler, I am lazy to clean the 240mm radiator. Since I am not overclocking at all, AIO cooler is enough to overkill, haha

Already using ... thermaltake water pro 3.0 ...

Been researching month ago before I buy my first rig, previously just laptop user. Too much to research, until now still feel my rig is not built correctly...

below are my specs :
Intel i7-4790 CPU - RM969
Asrock B85-Killer Motherboard - RM289
Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB 1600mhz (2 unit) RAM - RM140x2 = RM280
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD = RM294
Leadtek GTX 760 (reference design) GPU = RM799
TT Water 3.0 Pro Cooler - RM289
Xigmatek Vector 650w PSU - RM299
Bitfenix Shadow case - RM229

feel like should have go with i5-4690 then maybe a H97 motherboard that with intel LAN. Then can go with 2400mhz ram... even casing I also feel kind of lack the airflow design. Top got no ventilation ...

But xeon ... not all board support, since it's for server. The bios of the board need to support xeon only able to use it. Isn't it?

No la dude, it's a "heavy-task" processor by my books. Capable of running 24/7 and having so many threads/core, good for rendering 3D and it's supported by all 1150 board lor. It is a 1150 socket processor why can't it support?

Check the CPU Support.. icon_idea.gif
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20...Killer/?cat=CPU

It says the Xeon E3-1230 V3 is one of the supported. tongue.gif The CPU is of the Haswell architecture,so compatible with LGA1150 motherboards.

"It needs proper BIOS support. Xeons are targetted server boards. So its easier for most mobo makers simply to skip it on consumer boards. Its not due to any other limitation."

There are only "certain" Xeon that needed a server board to fully function, some can use by practically all mobo's that are in the B85 or above league.

If you can see this list > http://processormatch.intel.com/MotherBoar...tName=E3-1230V3
The 1230v3 is compatible with most "business type" board which are the B85/H87

PS : Even the B85 Killer board says that it support the Xeon.

Hello to all fellow LYN forumers.

I'm here seeking for advise regarding a RM2k budget pc build suggestions (just the pc)

Alongside with it, another additional rm500 will be used for a pc monitor (LED?)

So, a total of RM2.5k budget for PC and monitor (No mouse,no KB,no speaker or any other peripherals)

Planning to purchase tmrw or this weekend.Purpose of the PC is mild gaming(examples of games are DOTA 2,NFS,PES)

One requirement is that the MOBO must have WiFi capability as well.

All advise and help are much appreciated. if any other info needed regarding the usage of pc or any other requirements, do let me know and i will add. Thank you in advance! notworthy.gif

Can try to go for idealtech promotion,
go for Versa H23 chassis and free wireless dongle.
