I am thinking of building a extreme gaming rig that would last at least 4-5 years without upgrading #pcmasterrace

How can i maximize my budget of 4-5k

[pc usage] hardcore gaming..think titanfall 60 fps and hoping to play all the latest game during that duration with no difficulty, occasional photoshop and sony vegas works,movie watching etc..

and i dont think i oc'd before,but if it is a good thing to try, i will think of it..

I also just built a rig recently and done some research... maybe can help u a bit, but i also newbie.

Xeon is good for if you only perform normal task and gaming.
If you are doing rendering and stuffs, I think it is better to go for core i7 if budget allow.
I didn't OC my desktop, so I went for i7-4790, if you plan to OC, maybe 4770k or even 4790k

i7-4790 use DMI2 while Xeon E3 1230v3 use DMI.

Xeon require ECC RAM which means you unable to use 1866mhz ram and above.

i3 suggest for 1333mhz ram
i5 = 1600mhz , i7 = 1600mhz above

so if you plan to go like those 2400mhz ram, it is better to part with i7.

But he mention he is doing some video rendering and editing ... isn't that better to go with core i series...? no? I not really sure @@

I would like to ask for a gpu suggestion for my desktop that recently died due to corrupt vbios and it isnt working but fan is still running. I dont have the right skill to solder one of the chip pin 8 and 1 to recover the vbios file.

Lets get to the point, I wanna find a replacement (or temporary) for my old gpu. My gpu is HIS HD3870 ICEQ3 GDDR4 512MB with factory OC of 850/1190. The thing is, I want to have the replacement gpu that has similar performance or better to my broken gpu and of course, I prefer a full length pci bracket

Any help and suggestion about a cheap replacement that is similar to my current gpu is greatly appreciated. Do tell me if I posted this at a wrong thread since I didnt want to flood the forum with 'similar' old other threads that has similar topics

Hmmm.. it depends.. if the OCed OC build is better than the non-OC build, I will go for that one 

But then since you said the one powered by GTX 780 Ti is better, and both of them have similar pricing I believe, why do I need to overclock my pc then?

I believe this mainly applies for older CPUs or CPUs of slower speed. From this interesting read here, you can see that there is no difference running a i7 4770K at stock or even at 4.5 GHz in Watch Dogs. Current Core i5 is fast enough for any GPU out there in the market.

However, slightly slower AMD FX 8350 do gain some FPS when overclocked.

And then, there is another review on Thief, and there is indeed some gains from overclocking. So the overclocking gain does depend on games after all.

Just a few quick questions:-

1) Will the CPU bottle neck my GPU?
2) 2nd Question is about the GPU. I'm a bit outdated so I might not know if this has changed or not. But Radeons GPUs generate a lot of heat, won't this affect my performance since my computer area is hot? (Bad experience last time, 2 of my Radeon GPU burnt till i swapped to Nvidia).
3) Been hearing a lot of problems with Radeon Drivers compatabilities with games compared to Nvidia.

If that is the case, what kind of mobo can be used for future gen intel proc? I could just upgrade the CPU and maintain any other parts.

Content downloading would be primary usage i.e. P2P, etc. Office work might also include some light design work, photoshop/video editing, etc. Light gaming would basically be like FIFA, etc. Is GPU necessary? Or advisable to upgrade in future? Thinking of a budget 1k - 1.2k max without monitor.

room temp doesnt really play a big role if you have good cooling system in your rig.
some good air cooling sometimes are better than AIO liquid cooling.
since your office work are including some rendering stuff, it think its better for you to get the i5.
but with that budget..im not so sure.

Below is just my opinion, I also newbie desktop user, you might wanna seek for other sifu on more accurate opinion.

Without decent cooling and ventilation system, yes your pc still will work, but when you do massive workload like rendering those, if it exceeds its temperature, it will either lower the performance of the GC to lower the temperature, or it just continue and it will do damage to your processor or graphic card. So for me, I need my pc to last long, so i will pay extra few hundred just to maintain the temperature and reduce the risk of lowering lifespan of my processor and graphic card(since both of them are not cheap)

No, will just use it in normal room temperature
but with Minecrafter and rav3n82 recommendation I think it will be fine with their cooling and ventilation system
I not a hardcore gamer so I won't go for OC

So what if I change the casing to CM K380 as what they suggested? Is the cooler still fit into the casing or it will stuck?

so with the spec chabuchabu recommended it is ok if i dont install the cooler and just using a CM K380 casing?

and without monitor include in the budget, what the best spec u can suggest within RM3k?
