90K ??! @@. How the earth your money spent..? i never expect such a huge amount.

For me, excluded actual day wedding dinner (hope that the ang pow i received manage to cover the whole night expenses), i plan to allocate 25-30k for the rest of the potential expenses, will it be enough..?

The most important, what will be the likely major expenses that i need to cover...?

Johor Bahru. Table rate over here about 900-1200 ++ / table.

Appreciate if someone can breakdown the expenses into particular.

The 90K you mentioned in 10 yrs back, where was your state friend..?

Got dinner banquet held but you can exclude this from the list because usually the ang pow money received is more than enough to cover the banquet.

Money tight now, economy not good
people are rushing to get marry before GST kick in, so people will have to pay many new weds angpao and they will give very little cuz so many weddings to attend.

Its your budget decide what to put in the itinerary, not put itinerary and put budget, you dont need to have anything that those weddings that you attended have. Your budget and teir budget is not the same, you might say but hey that guy earn as much as me but who knows he might have screw his financial status by helding such grant wedding. Personal loan for wedding is a no no.

Did you know it cost close to nothing to get legally married?

LOL.

simple rule: spend 1/4 of what you have in cold hard cash, AFTER minusing all your liabilities (loans for example)

if u want to spend rm 100k, u need to have rm 400k if you have no house or car loan

if u drive a RM 150k car (another rm100k need to pay) and a house loan of RM 500k (left 450k), and have cash of RM 600,000

then u are entitled to use: RM 600k - RM 450 - RM 100k / 4 = RM 25k

Mine would be RM2k per table. So I am not expecting to get back everything.
Perhaps 50% is good enough.

All depends on you, your wife, and your respective parents. There is no "standard procedure" per se. If you are lucky and both side parents are those happy go lucky, whatever la kind, then you got a lot of freedom to cut down on expenses. If either side is big businessman and/or only child and/or super traditional parents then jialat liao.

90% of wedding studios once you take your pre wedding photos, they will hard sell you like shit to pay extra few thousand to "add photos to your album." note that every single married couple will tell you that the wedding album will hardly ever get looked at. As I'm writing this I can't even recall where my wife put the album liao icon_idea.gif

Wedding bands, dowry, ang bao is up to you and your wife and your in laws, too variable.

Wedding dinner depends, restaruant from rm800-1k per table, 4star hotel from rm1200-rm1500 per table, 5 star hotel from rm2000. normally you can at least break even on restaurant and 4 star hotel; for 5 star normally hard to break even.

Actual day video/photo anywhere from rm2k to rm15k+

conclusion? wedding is as cheap (or expensive) as you want it to be.

Bro, wise choice of not choosing bridal shop package. I signed one of the quite famous bridal shop last year from the wedding fair. It cost me RM4k+ but the service is super lousy. I have not taken my pre-wedding shooting yet and due on this coming Friday. Hopefully they can produce a better photoshoot skills and output else I'm going to get mad and blast them kao kao.

Tell you this type of bridal shop is money-sucking business, whatever extra you need to pay pay pay. Even rent a shoes need to pay LOL.

In my case,

thinking maybe wedding dinner lesser table, lesser wine, wedding band no need, album maybe find a friend with good discount (make some friends with photographers first brows.gif ), car can try to borrow.

On the other hand, dowry, honeymoon gonna sapu up all the savings made from those adjustment. cry.gif Wondering when can make up that kind of money to pay for a wedding.

most ppl have parents to assist with the support, or take a personal loan for it

alternatively, just do a cheaper wedding / affordable one

That's why.. wedding dinner is never a revenue to start with. however it is a memorable moment and the moment for your parents to feel proud

Right, I don't know why some people invited their FRIENDS to their WEDDING but the main objective to collect $$$ from their friends to cover the wedding dinner expenses. doh.gif

Gratz on ur upcoming wedding, infact i am preparing for mine too.
My wedding is end of this year.

Wedding Album = 4k
Proposal Ring = 2k
Wedding Band = 2k
Buffet Dinner = 3.5k
O/s Accomodation = 2k
Bride Dowry = 10k
Ang Pao Disbursement = Should be few hundred
Wedding Dinner = 30 tables at 1.3k ea @@ (Angpow not sure can cover or not  cry.gif )
Actual day photo = 800, you need video? I feel like its kind of waste since you won't be watching it in future.
Honeymoon = Haven't plan budget 10k
Reno house = Big headache, reno + furnitures should be above 50k

KL restaurant now hardly you can find below 900, as I have surveyed alot. Price nowadays have increased to a least RM1k per table but people mindset is still RM100/head angpow.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

wedding is a time for man to bite the bullet like a man. Having spent some of the cost, interim review left me me wondering from where did I borrow the courage to propose and it surprise that I can actually afford such an amount.
but of course it's also chance to strengthen or break the relationship

My fiance and I plan to go on a lower budget as we would like to save money to do renovation. In Penang I think you still can do it below RM40k if you don't invite too many people. Do you all know where we can rent bridal gowns and not burn a hole in our budget?

Now a days buying a wedding gown is so cheap compare to renting if you are willing to find it online and take the risk. But the quality, so so only I guess.

Based on what I noticed from my bridal gown survey, renting is more pricey than buying. Bridal studio at SS2 quoted me MYR900 for renting it. In the end, I bought my gown at a warehouse sale for MYR500. biggrin.gif

Rental gown equivalent to the cost of you travel to CAN for new dress. Both gown and chinese cheongsam are cheap there, but do not expect like designer's brand unless you want to have expensive wedding
