Yo dudes,

I got bored yesterday and I made myself an air cooled cooling system direct from my aircond.. hehe..

The temp's around 38 - 39 celsius from the pervious 60 - 62 celsius...

It's just temp though until I get my new water cooled system.. Thought of getting oil based cooling system but gotta see how it goes..

Oh well, take care..

you don't wanna go the oil based way...messy, icky and it doesnt do much help in airconitioned environments.

I guess it does minimises dusts.. yeah, good point, have to watch out for condensation but since it's so far up, don't think it'll be much of a hassle.. hehe..

Thanks for the feed back guys,

hehe.. I guess if the pc's on all the time, it's okay so no worried about condensation,.. hehe.. And still need fan though cos it has to have something to force feed air into the cpu...

Well, I'm not sure if can put the temp even lower or not cos at the moment my aircond is runnning at 24 Celcius and very sejuk already ( I mean me ) hehehe..

The lowest I went was 30-31 Celcius and that was with the aircond running at max 16Celcius... I guess unless I put in more recycled bottles and yeah, 4-2-1 piping and an extra mid muffler with a S-Flow exhaust sure can bring the temp down.. hahaha...

I think by putting in a better fan at the cpu will do the trick.. haha.. Hey, total cost for the entire system : 2 ringgit ( inc tap and bottles ).... Cheap oh.? haha....

Good Idea ... Like the good old days were Bottle and little things can make to good use biggrin.gif

Editors ChoicE Golden Award from ME tongue.gif

Lastime I use water cooling sampai the water tube high up the Aircond with the radiator just next to the opening ... Always mess with the Useless 12V pump that cant Pump water so high ... argh ... i use Three Water Pump atach parallel just can get the water flowing smooth ... Haha , Kinda Three Phase Cooling ?

In the end , i found me a better way using Industrial graded Server 12CM aluminium fans to cool my Prescott . just now i mess up with all the noise biggrin.gif

In an Non-aircond room , while loading , can get 42Celcius max with Stock Heatsink with that big Fans around tongue.gif

Since you had a splendid ideas , Maybe it is time for me to move to Quite Computing biggrin.gif

True, once the temp goes down, the fan starts to spin silently... very nice, no more those iritating " woooooooooo " sound.. hahaha..

Well, gonna cool down my Graphic card next. Just gonna connect a smaller bottle from the main duct to the fan at the card... haha.. It's just below the cpu so it'll be easier to make it... hehehe...

not necessary
cause the cooled air would be directed towards the processor
so it will have much more coole/fresh air
instead of the room cooled down (which might take a while, unless he sets the A/C to north pole cold laugh.gif )

Hi all,

Thanks so much for everyone's feed back..... It's inspiring...

Well, at the moment the cooling is great. And the best thing is I've just installed a CPU water cooler. But I still direct the " bottle cooler " cold air from my aircond to the radiator fan.. hehe.. and the temp goes down to between 27C - 30C.. cool isn't it.? hehee..

Oh well, will post up pics once I get around it...

Cheers..

Lol, in those countries sometimes they leave the PC on all the time in winter and don't turn on the heater except when it gets really cold. PC serve dual purpose..also save on heating bills if using gas heaters..

This shows man is willing to go the distance to get the things that they wan .

For love , computer cooling or money smile.gif

Blessed if I have the courage to do the cooling like him rclxms.gif .

It really cools the system down none the less albeit a hard and overdone one .

Bro , what 3D software that you used ?
I m a CAD user also . Do you do the rendering all the time ??

I am doing ID & modelling most of the time . but my CPU's not getting that hot .

Hi all,

Some latest pics of my home made cooling.. hehe... I've directed the cooling bottles to the radiator fan and thus making the temp go down even more..!!! hehe...

I'm using Cooler Master at the moment, but I'm still speculating on using oil as the cooling agent... hehe... Now experimenting with submerging the motherboard in oil.... any takers..?!!!! drool.gif

hehehe..

cheers.. and thanks all..

Hi there,

The CPU temp has gone down to about 26Celcius - 28Celcius with the CPU fan set at auto and the NB fan set at 1200 rmp or so. The air cond is set at 25C with the fan blowing at low.. So haven't really set the system to max cooling yet..!! hehehe.. but will do so .. I'm hoping for the CPU temp to go down to about 20 Celcius if I can help it.. hehe..

The running speed for the above readings are based on my CPU clocked at 4.9GHZ...

Cheers ...

I bought 4 pieces of 1G hyper X by Kingston but when I put them on, the system only registers 2G instead of 4.

My question is, why does it do that..?

But the bad part is, if ur having the air cond blowing too cold, it might just condense at the hsf there.

i think it will condense a bit.but will not effect the hsf...it will vaporize quickly.

Well, i disagree with closing it.
This is pure creativity and 100% LYN original.
Forget those XS boys who have loadsa money and equipment to play with.
We have our own LYtian who has pure creativity and passion... rclxms.gif

Btw, condensation as many had pointed out might be an issue.
But i was wondering, how fast would it actually fry a PC even if it condenses.
IIRC, there was a website which actually dipped the whole rig into distilled water and it lasted for quite some time before shutting down.
Lohwenli might know better as he was the one who told me...

Btw, i suggest that this thread be pinned and title changed to "Creative cooling methods by LYtians" where everyone can post up their own brilliant ideas. thumbup.gif

True true, don't close this thread down yet. As I am getting a new rig, I plan to do something extreme in the cooling. TS here gave my friend and I an idea. Will let you all know once we've done that.

Cheers!

I love it bro! Ingenious! Gonna try it drool.gif

Tho my old cooling idea was a rather different one.. mounting a wall exhaust fan as a side panel... but this is so much better

the only risk is condensation due to aircond low temp .
but most probably will not happen cause d starting line of aircond is far from d CPU ^^,
anyway, nice job dude !
but r u sure it drops up to 30C ?
that's just too impressive for a simple mod like this .

LOL extream cooling senario here, maybe try add some funnle at the top to collect more air, and hm.. and want try finding some home some paper use in overseas home wall, can let moisture out but not water, and stick it to the top, maybe in home decorating or home diy shop though
