but generally he's an atheist? doesn't believe in any religion? unsure.gif

Technically speaking, he's not an atheist. Atheists in general are someone who sees no reason or proof to believe in any religion at all. Constantine fights all sorts of supernatural monsters all the time, so obviously, he can't be atheist because he faces all this proof all the time. laugh.gif He does, however, refuse to follow any religion, or something like that. A very cynical anti hero.

S01E02 The Darkness Beneath

Well, what can I say about the second episode.

Constantine's character is better fleshed out. We are introduced to the new lady lead character, namely Zed Martin (Angélica Celaya) who has "psychic powers".

In the first episode, we were informed that Liv Aberdine with her scrying ability, had left Constantine a map, with drops of her blood.

This week's episode opens with the map leading Constantine to his second case.

Interesting that the writers of this series took the trouble of actually doing some research into the the mythical. Please note below:

All in all the series is good enough to keep me coming back.

2nd episode was definitely way better than 1st episode. But tbh, I think Constantine is like Gotham. It'll slowly gather more pace in latter episodes.

p.s I wasn't a reader of it's comic. But some how I feel this series is very Supernatural-like. lel

Loved the pilot and first episode, 2nd episode seems a little lackluster for some reason. Was great that the episode hinted at his signature habit of smoking.

If you have watched the movie, the same role was played by Shia LaBeouf...

Frank William "Chas" Chandler (Chas Chandler) in the comic book, is Constantine's oldest friends.

There some to be a deep understanding between them, so much so, that Constantine usually do not bring Chas to the more dangerous cases he handles.

In the comic book also, Chas has his own supernatural adventures without Constantine.

He is describe as having very strong surviving skills, but you are right it does not explain how he survived that episode

Sorry bro. I only know from the movies and what I read online. Including a couple of Hellblazer issues here and there. Nothing concrete with regards to Chas.

You could try the wiki here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chas_Chandler_(comics)

Which has an interesting reference to the tv version.

Television[edit]
Chas appears in the TV series Constantine portrayed by Charles Halford[6] described as Constantine’s oldest friend and staunch companion who possesses powerful survival skills that might possibly be supernatural.

http://hellblazer.wikia.com/wiki/Chas_Chandler

In the Constantine TV series, Chas Chandler is played by Charles Halford. This version of Chas is also American, but appears to be John's contemporary. He drives an American yellow taxi cab. He also has "survival skills" which may be supernatural in nature; in the series' pilot, he is shown surviving what would appear to be a fatal electrical shock.
