Horrible actress sadlt. Other than that, the plot can grow really far.

Just watch the pilot. It was enjoyable. I like John, but the main girl was so bland, with the "I must save everyone" mindset somemore. Is it too late to switch her out?

Constantine S01E01 Non Est Asylum

While Marvel is running rings around DC in the movies, in the land of small screens, DC is running rings around Marvel, although I suspect, for now. I do foresee in the distant future, ABC would have a whole slew of Marvel Property on TV...

Constantine in official on TV, and, it is interesting what a "test" audience can do!!

I still not sure about Matt Ryan being Constantine, and would give him a couple more episodes...

Overall, a decent episode and you will want to be back for more!! nod.gif

heh, i like Matt Ryan as Constantine, more closer to comic book looks, albeit not as handsome tongue.gif

so...i just watched the first episode, has a question to any of the comic reader. Has Constantine always regard the religion is the same?
What noticed me is during his exorcision he said "In the name of sacred cross, the star of david and the shahadah i command u"

i think it's a nice touch, where every religion has their own strength and useful for fighting demons / evils. Supernatural series usually revolves around Christianity but Constantine revolves around every religion

laugh.gif Just because I don't see Matt Ryan as Constantine doesn't mean I want everyone to think the same!! tongue.gif

As for your religion question, you are correct, Constantine will "borrow" from any religion as long as he thinks it will solve the issue at hand.

It's not borrowing religion to fight demons, at its core Constantine is a gifted sorcerer who would rather outsmart his foes than relying on magic. In vertigo timeline, Lucifer gave up hell and god was conned by Constantine. He did cross path with other cultural demons but not in a religious caricature way. The demons are treated as complex character in a more mature context. Constantine is more of a cynical anti-hero or villain in some cases who wants to do good to redeem the souls he lost because of his selfish reason. All this was before the New 52 continuity so not quite sure what the latest direction for Constantine.
Albeit TV/Movies will dumb down those ideas to an audience friendly platform. So back with tried and true "good vs evil" storytelling.
