Hi guys.. just bought a Squier Deluxe Strat. I have never played a Strat style guitar before.. all the guitar I've played are fixed bridge guitars and hold tuning very well. My strat seems to go out of tune easily.. sometimes just simple bends.. then i need to retune again. Is this a common feature of a Strat? Even when im not using the trem..the tuning seems to "slip" out. Any thing i need to do or set? Guitar is new out of the box.

Ok.. i will get new strings and stretch first. But sometines when i bend..or use the tremolo.. i can hear the click of the string slipping.. like when u scratch the pick on the wounded string.then tune it up and play again, bend a few times, if out of tune, keep stretching and retune again until it stabilize itself. |

That's the "nut pinging" issue.. most probably the nut wasn't cut properly or to the size of your string.I usually try to identify which string it is, then try to pull the strings back and forth a bit towards the nut area (cheapskate way) But yeah its always safer to start with a brand new string and lube them first. |
